Excessive Farting, please help...

maybe food combination, maybe you're lactose intolerant, maybe your allergic to gluten. Maybe all of the above.

I have the same problem with excessive flatulence, due to protein shakes and oatmeal. I have discovered a medication called deflatine. Although it is meant primarily for trapped wind it also reduces the frequency of my farts in my experience.

PS I love the smell of my own farts. If other people didn't have a problem with my gaseous emisions I would take steps to cause more farts that smell even more potent as the smell leaves me curiously satisfied.

Nonsense imo.
The bad smell being a sign of toxicity is largely not true. Bad smell is a result of certain fats or sulpher compounds. Hard boiled eggs along with something that produces a good quantity of gas like bran fiber will prove this true. Cabbage is another example of a sulphery food that is going to add to flatus stink.

Over eating is a major cause of gas, as is anything that is not well digested. Fiber is by definition indigestable and high fiber foods are common causes of gas. Eating more slowly sometimes helps one have less gas. Chewing ones food fully can help. Constipation is a common cause of gas. Most people have some foods that have to be done in small quantities or not at all, or they suffer the consequences.

In ayurvedic medicine extreme gasiness, constipation, and being mentally spacey are considered a sign of a vata crisis, in case that system interests you at all. Exercise often speeds up digestion & elimination some and can result in less gas for some people.

Of course you're right.

I've noticed that when my pH is almost to the point of alkalosis my body creates no odors- in any way, shape or form. And when it is acidic (reaching acidosis) the odor is strong, almost pungent

I've always associated bad body odors with poor health, dehydration etc and i know there is a strong basis for this, at least with my own body... people who emit foul body odor generally aren't healthy but maybe you're right in that it has more to do with overeating, not burning enough fat off etc than simply the excretion of toxins like free-radicals etc

I notice if i eat a lot of meat or dairy products i will have to wear deodorant etc but when i consume a mostly vegetarian diet i emit no odor...

i always thought scented soaps and toothpaste were unneccesary as well, unless one had body odor/health issues; causing things like b.o. and bad breath. these days i don't use any scented toiletries and people often comment that i smell good. i think that's funny

OP:
Don't worry about it. You fart about as much as I do. I mean, I do fart a lot more than pretty much anyone else I know, and it's known by most of my friends. But that doesn't necessarily indicate something wrong.

Things that make it worse:

Alcohol (my farts whilst hung over have caused fights in my house)
Coffee
Celery (the fibre)

That doesn't influence my ingestion of these things though. Fart away!

Edit: I'm also a vegetarian. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. My mother farts heaps as well.

I don't know why it isn't possible to make some sort of compound that makes farts smell so bad (the smell is due mainly to sulfur dioxide I assume) smell innocuous. Or couldn't it be possible to make y-fronts that have some sort of inbuilt filter that removes the foul odors? I bet that would sell well, just like the silver impregnated antibacterial underwear that is such a hit.

Is there some way to safely put pressure on a part of the abdomen to gently release trapped gas?
