what specific chemical causes short-term memory loss in marijuana users, is it THC?

I was thinking about how good it would be to genetically modify marijuana plants to reduce chemicals responsible for such negative memory effects.

Anyone reckon this is possible?
 
What a waste of effort to genetically modify a plant for that reason anyways. 1 plant. If people were going to genetically modify plants they would be cross breeding shit like poppy's and weed plants to make morphine weed.
 
I don't believe that it would be a waste of time. Short term memory loss in my opinion is the only real long term negative impact marijuana has on its users after consumption. Surely removing this problem would be a great step in promoting the legalisation of marijuana. If this were to be achieved, I would think that government would have a hard time keeping it illegal when considering the effects of alcohol on consumers.
 
Basically I think that the major reason marijuana is illegal is that it tends to make people stupid through the reduction of memory function, and if we were to remove this issue, legalisation may occur, especially when inspecting the negatives associated with alcohol consumption.
 
It all depends what you are using. If it is a hybrid perhaps or indica, but maybe you need to change to sative!
