We all know we're going to get a hangover after a night of alcoholic partying—but what's really happening when you drink?

How can one genre of beverages wreak so much havoc on your behavior and on the morning after? Science has the answers.

Anything you drink slithers down your esophagus, into the stomach, and then into the small intestines.

Consider them the waiting room en route to being drunk.

Good find slimvictor. This article is useful. Alcohol is ubiquitously available in our society, alcohol harm reduction and education isn't. People have difficult experiences on alcohol frequently. At big alcohol events they should have an alcohol Zendo where people could get educated and work through difficult experiences in comfortable surroundings. MDMA, or drinking, or whatever drug cultures should adopt honest education and harm reduction practices.

^ This is your personal choice. People should have the option of legally using drugs. Many people have healthy drinking habits. Personally I abstain from the fire water. My opinion is people can take whatever drug they want as long as they don't force those drugs on other people without consent.

Where did I write that other people cannot drink simply because I choose not to? I have lots of friends and family members who do drink from social drinking to getting drunk on occasion like a holiday.

I've always wanted to try (or wanted more other people to try first, lol) 1-propanol and 1-amyl alcohol. They are supposed to be shorter lasting and less hangover inducing that ethanol and should be first metabolized to their respective aldehydes and then to the harmless (but calorie containing) corresponding fatty acids.

If it was about getting drunk, I'd rather do GHB. Same effect, less body burden, no hangover if dosed properly. But since I don't get drunk anymore it's irrelevant. It's a kind of mind altering that just doesn't do it for me.
