Ever lose or mess up your job over Weed?

I used to run a music therapy program for adults with developmental disabilities and lost my job because they took me to get my yearly drug test and wouldn't put it in writing that they'd honor my med card (this was before ny had better protections for med patients) so I walked out.

Now I run the sales floor at one of ny's leading dispensaries.......so I'd say it was a net positive
I like that your experience had a positive outcome, I'm still unemployed, though I'm having a shot at my own food vendor biz, the concept is coming together, but that's likely where it ends too! All the best.

i failed a couple drug tests because of weed - one was after working at a place that i hated for about a month and the other one was pre-employment

but i always looked at it like "oh well - it wasn't meant to be" and "im not gonna stop smoking weed anyway"

and from then on i figured out better ways to beat the tests

No, because everyone knew I was a pothead; and although I would have been fired for on job Cannabis use, as soon as I went medical, I took my documents to my union rep and subsequently human resources. As i had already disclosed my kidney failure to both, medical Cannabis became a zero issue. I was even allowed to eat gummies at work.

As long as the Medical doesn't screw with your cognition, most companies shouldn't be concerned at all.

Agreed, plus you'd always have to look forward to another BS drug test coming down the line, probably every 3–6 or 9 months, depending on the gig. It was definitely for the best,
cheers for sharing.

Surprisingly no. I had a guest complain that I smelled of cannabis once when I was working on a hotel bar but it didn't go anywhere. The entire events team were either constantly stoned or drinking on shift or coke heads so we were pretty good at sweeping that kind of thing under the carpet.
Can I work there? Sounds pretty laxed,
Cheers for sharing.

I can only tolerate edibles at this point in my life. I get way too nervous/paranoid after smoking the stuff that's around nowadays. It seems like its become way too potent, and the CBD has basically been deleted from most strains. So my jam lately has been gummies that are 5:1 CBD:THC. They are 20mg CBD and 4mg THC. They work so well for pain, anxiety, and restlessness. They are seriously a miracle for me.
I found that Indica and Sativa are truly different beasts, if I'm right, Indica is the "Body Stoned" and Sativa is far more "Heady or Psychotropic" and might have you peeking through the blinds far too much. Unfortunately without a dispensary it's up to chance, I'm in South Australia and Dispensaries aren't a thing yet, though Weed is decriminalized.
Thanks for sharing, cheers.

I got too high before work when I was 17 and one of my coworkers found me lying on my side on the floor attempting to sweep up, end of job.

I'm more sensible now... about my choice of jobs anyway. Shooting speed and knocking down buildings was great fun. More recently (November or December 2023) I threw my back out doing groundworks, ate a fistful of dihydrocodeine and fell asleep in the van. When break time was over no one even bothered to wake me up so I only realised my faux pas an hour later when I fell forwards, headbutted the horn and woke myself up.

A lot of the time, I wish I was still in the 90's, I had much more fun then. I imagine your choice to live in the sticks is much less stressful than any corporate gig. All the best mate!
man...90-ies here was a bloody massacre.....never wish anybody to live in such times:(🥶😵😱....if u livin' close enough u know what i'm talkin' about

Before all that THC stored in me is gone, we be a decade further.
That stuff got a Half live that makes Diazepam blink.
So i will be positiv for years if i stopped today.

Same for driving. How do they deal with that as Cops are to dumb.
To know one toke will cause a positiv for at least a month.
And the driver can loose their license [or get a fine] by that flawed Saliva check.

Cannabis pro-activist s are working on this little problem.
Assume a medical user, may never drive.
