First I should say I am a recovering H addict. I goto the methadone clinic every day and am on strong road to recovery! Started off a 140mg. now I'm download 100mg. Anyay, this Aug 27, was my 6th completely clean from H! :) WOOOO FRIGGIN HOOO!!

Even since I entered the clinic (since i was a teenager), I've ALWAYS had trouble falling sleep. So I recently found out about this dug called "Etizolam". I've only been trying it for insomnia. I think it's legal in America at the moment so I can take the pee tests at the click and there are no troubles at all! :)

Only trouble I have with it now is that I was started at 4mg to 6mg to fall asleep. Now to get the same results, i need to take 20 to 25mg!!!! What is going on here? It's only been a few weeks.

Anyone think it's the methadone that's messing with the dose? It's really frustrating cuz I finally thought I the answer to my insomnia. I've tried everything out there and this the only thing that helps -- which it still does, I just need a huge dose -- doses that people say are insane for Etizolam. What should I do? Any advice?

thanks in advance for any responses!

I don't think it's the methadone affecting your sleep. You're working up a tolerance to etizolam and it's only going to increase.
The longer you use it, the more you need for the same effects. Slow down on it because soon this will get out of hand.

your building tolerance to a benzo, if people could use the same dose every day with the same results i think we would all be addicted to xanax in heaven for the rest of our lives

have you tried low dose seroquel or valdoxan (i would recommend valdoxan) for sleep?

you might need to taper your dose of etizolam as well if you decide on stopping it because you might go into withdrawal if your taking 25mg a night (other people might have better input on that though)

Benzos typically lose most of their efficacy after 2 weeks of continuous treatment. It's not the methadone, it's just benzo tolerance.

Stop taking etizolam before you get yourself into trouble, and end up dependent on benzodiazepines. Taking etizolam is no better than taking Xanax (alprazolam) or Halcion (triazolam) all the time. Benzos are not meant for regular use.

If you continue taking large doses of etizolam regularly you can expect to have a nasty withdrawal syndrome including anxiety, restlessness, general malaise and even risk of seizures.

Try instead: melatonin, valerian root, Seroquel, Benadryl, cannabis, mirtazepine.

Tolerance builds fast, especially with Etizolam and especially to the hypnotic effects. Lowering you methadone dose probably isn't helping either.

Oh and regarding withdrawal from Etizolam I've read widely opposing stories some people find it really bad, some just get minor effects (insomnia for me but I have that anyway, well vivid dreams to but I consider that good because I enjoy them). Are you willing to risk you're in group 2?
