Etizolam addiction?

Been a while since I've needed to post here.

I've been taking about 10mg etizolam a day to combat opiate withdrawal for 6 days. I realise I may already be in trouble with regards to having a habit, or am I still safe at the moment? How long does it take to build dependency to a short acting 'benzo' at a high dose like this?

That's a lot of etizolam. How much do you have left? Even though you were only on it for 6 days, that's still a lot. If you can, I recommend tapering down slowly (either with etizolam, or, ideally, with a longer-acting benzo...if you can get your hands on one like diazepam/Valium).

Everybody is different. The general rule of thumb is 2-4 weeks of use to build up "dependency" but since you were using such a high dose - its probably best to play it safe and taper down.

10mg left, probably been doing more like 15mg a day. Don't want to get more benzos, just want to be clean. Guess I might just cane the rest today and face the reality of a clean day tomorrow. If the worst comes to the worst I'll put the ko on myself with seroquel and slumber it out. Can't believe I'm back here...

No, I don't recommend just eating the rest (assuming that's what you meant by "cane the rest") today. Drop your dose down. It's hard to tell you for certain because etizolam is a new-ish benzo and has a slightly different personality than most benzos do.

Again, do not eat all the rest of your benzos and then go cold turkey. Wean yourself off slowly.

I haven't got the self control.....

I want a clean day too, I can stick it out if it turns out I have become dependant.

The opiate withdrawal should be done soon. Never know, might wake up feeling ok tomorrow.

Okay, well I don't what you want me to do for you then....I'm giving you the best advice I can here. Lock the etizolam up somewhere or give it to somebody you trust to measure out certain dosages per day.

If you're at day six, the worst of the opiate withdrawals should be over (well, depending on the opiate) already. Tapering is always the best plan when it comes to discontinuing benzos. Yes, you've only been using them for a short time but 10-15mg etizolam a day is a lot. If you cold turkey, it won't be fun.

Please consider tapering down, you can have a clean day and your clean day will be a lot better if you wean yourself off the benzos instead of going from 10-15mg a day to 0mg a day.

I relapsed half way through the detox (just a few bags) which put it back a bit. Trying to sleep now, worry about the etizolam tomorrow depending how I feel.
