Ethyl tianeptine I is an analog (and impurity) of tianeptine (iodo in place of the chloro)

I've only tested it 3 times and it appears to be about 6 times stronger than tianeptine sodium by weight. Its a bit slower acting than sodium as its a sulfate salt but faster acting than traditional tianeptine sulfate.

It feels more sedating and more opioid-like than traditional tianeptine as there is less serotonergic effects given the lower doses required.

50mg feels like around 300mg of tianeptine sodium, but again is more sedating. It also seems a bit less euphoric than traditional tianeptine somehow but I can't say that conclusively (it may simply be the result of this being sulfate instead of the sodium). What I can say however is that it is noticeably more sedating.

It is quite expensive but the potency is interesting
I have never nodded off from just 50mg of tianeptine in my life, this stuff is significantly more potent.

This compound as a sodium salt is probably a proper narcotic, possibly stronger than O-DSMT.

Edit: warning do not administer this compound sublingually. Just 35mg caused severe tissue irritation when administered sublingually. Never seen any compound cause this level of irritation (it sort of turned some of tissue white) and ive taken many substances sublingually. This stuff would mess you up rectally or intranasally. Strange that it was so caustic. This irritation is going to last a while. That said, it worked quite well -- 1.5 hours in im almost nodding from just 35mg of this tianeptine analog (nonetheless avoid sublingual administration at all costs). It feels significantly more sedating than other forms of tianeptine but also potentially less euphoric (not 100% sure about this). Again this stuff would probably feel like a proper opioid in the form of a sodium salt.

how are you going to form a sodium salt w/no carboxylate group

a neutral compound would more likely be a salt of some sort, hcl or phosphate

Well in any event, its interesting stuff. Much more potent and opioid like than tianeptine proper.

Will likely never order it again, but as a whole I am going to give tianeptine a rest (overdosing on antidepressants to get high isn't the best practice -- though there are many worse).

I actually haven't found any first hand accounts of this compound's use so this has some value in that regard.

In summary:

This tianeptine impurity, which you might perhaps call ethyliododeschlorotianeptine (?) is:

- about 6 times the potency of tianeptine sodium
- is slower acting than tianeptine sodium
- about 1.5x longer lasting than tianeptine sodium
- noticeably more sedating and opioid like
- qualitatively less serotonergic more opioidergic
- is caustic to the mucus membranes and must not be administered sublingually
