Enkephalinase inhibitor DLPA - prevent endorphin degradation?
DLPA (racemeic phenylalanine) is said to be an enkephalinase inhibitor. It inhibits the enzyme enkephalinase that is responsible for the degradation of enkephalin. This is scientifically proven and there are a lot of clinical studies.
But I often read that the enkephalinase inhibitor DLPA will prevent the degradation of enkephalins AND endorphins. Unfortunately I was not able to find a scientifical prove for that. I did not find any studies that said that DLPA will work on endorphins, too.
The vendors' websites are no prove for me. They tell that DLPA is good for pain because it raises enkephalin and endorphin levels.
But I found this claim only on vendors' websites or in some drugs forums or something like that.
Wikipedia could not tell me if enkephalinase only is responsible for the degradation of enkephalins or for enkephalins and endorphins.
Maybe somebody else has more knowledge than me. I saw videos on youtube where some medical doctors adviced DLPA for chronic pain. But my doctor had no knowledge on this stuff at all...
I will try DLPA and see if it can help with opiate withdrawals.
But the enkephalines act on δ1- an δ2-opioid receptors while β-endorphin also acts on μ1- and μ2-opioid receptors. And so it would really be interessting to know if it also has an effect on endorphin levels.

And has anybody knowlegde on how long it takes until DLPA starts to work? I take it now since one week because I hope it will help with the pain from an injury. I read different statements. Some say it will work after 4 days while other say it takes three weeks.
Until now I feel no change or pain reduction. And I was not able to find information on that. I found texts that tell that DLPA inhibits enkephalinase but not how quick it will start working or how long it takes until the enkephalin level will be high enough to help with pain.
Any more information?
