ENERGY DRINKS ~ Mega Thread

They've gotten cheaper too, and moreover they are still averaging ~$2 here in the states, which isn't what it used to be when they first came out either.

I'm a fairly big consumer of sugar-free V. I need caffeine but I don't like warm drinks in general, used to drink coffee but never enjoyed it much, much prefer a cool quick hit of caffeine from V.

The new coffee flavored monsters are booooooommmmmb.

i'm gonna start using caffeine pills instead, those cans are way to expensive.

Well, for pure economics, it probably be cheapest to just get some regular coffee beans.

i drank an energy drink called NOS (22oz) and 2 bars of chocolate not half an hour ago,
and i am now currently suffering from severe lower-abdominal pain, there was about a 15 minutes phase of giggling, and now I feel like I'm about to give birth

i gotta poo

Why the hell would you post 6000 posts (between two accounts) on this site if your not a drug user?

Imagine how active you'd be on a non-drug user forum.

But, Caffeine sucks so much. Just a glass of OJ and a smoke, work for me.

Well I like the community section particularly healthy living, second opinion, science and tech, and sports and gaming. once in awhile i post in the lounge and i used to be more active in CE/P but not a lot is going on there lately. I also post in steroid discussion because altho I don't do steroids I work out religiously and like to talk about serious training, diet, and supplements and that's where people talk about that on this site. the only other site i post on is a small site for working out but that's mostly just to update my training journal and read articles on training styles and stuff. I probably only have a thousand posts over there over the last few years.

i think bluelight has a lot more to offer than simply drug discussion and i like a lot of the people here so i don't think its that odd to post here daily.

Taurine in Energy Drinks

How come taurine is in energy drinks when "despite being present in many energy foods, it has not been proven to be energy-giving". conspiracy?

purified amino acids have a far different effect on the human body when taken in concentrated form (1-10g doses) rather than in food.

Thanks for clearing that up^^ I had been confused about that just a little for a while now.

I don't think taurine is energizing myself. Several sources list it as a mild GABA agonist. I do think taurine buffers caffeine's effects making the stimulation less jumpy.

I'm not a fan of thread necromancers but all you energy drink enthusiasts are going to see a very drastic (and pretty disturbing) change in the next two months. I work for the world's largest energy drink distributor (italics used as a hint to the brand, not a bragging utility to enhance my internet ego) and have for nearly three years now. A new 'type' of caffeine is being pioneered by Spiked, sharing similar effects of Redline.

Presently we are soft launching a version of my company's drink that uses caffeine from (OH MUH GAWD) coffee beans. Granted the effects are soft and mellow, and could be compared to the effects of dexedrine versus adderall, but the 'all natural' appeal is supposedly a revenue driver for older generations to give it a chance since the original versions of the beverage contain evil voodoo like taurine and guarana and are pew-pew'd away immediately by time-magazine guided idiot parents.

Tangent aside, watch what is about to happen with the relatively new 'energy shots' (both the vial shaped ones and the witcher-alchemy-bottle-theme shaped renditions. 5 hour energy shots, 6 hour, we've seen them at gas stations every day; keep a keen eye out on those because while I can't divulge too deeply for confidentiality's sake, we are going to see a new kind of addiction (they are going to card you when you purchase these, big hint) in the energy drink industry.

It's scary and exciting, and I wish I could say more, but I wanted to bump this to let energy drink enthusiasts know that there's a surprise waiting for them in early 2009. Until then, if you want a potent dose of adrenaline/energy without having cold sweats and redline/spiked body shakes stick with NOS products. I usually chug one of the NOS energy shots every morning, and occasionally sprinkle some crushed adderall in the little vial the night before if I'm to survive a double shift or work a venue.

Ironic that I don't use my own company's beverage to supply the energy I need? Very much so, but again, watch those gas station counters in early 2009. Caffeine is being reinvented and managed to bring a few new friends along with it.

Sorry in advance for the cryptic nature of this post, it's difficult to uphold the bluelight posting rules while adhering to the confidentiality agreements I'm obliged to at the same time. I just wanted to raise awareness as it's going to be a soft launch like our botched attempt at getting baby boomers to get hooked on energy drinks ;)

If your curiosity is causing dementia I'll be happy to divulge a little more info in private messages. It's gonna be a good year for us caffeinated loonies :D

^^interesting, i'd pm you but your a greenlighter and cant receive private messages so that's not an option...

however i got a pretty good guess at what your talking about, Nicotine? With the talk of the 'liquid smoke' drink in DiTM and the whole mention of getting carded for the drinks it seems plausible. I mean there is so much nazi anti-smoking propaganda that it would seem to fit a niche that oral tobacco and snuff may not reach as they are taboo for many... oh yeah and you keep mentioning addicting. nicotine in small doses is a pretty ok stimulant so it would make sense.

if not, get some more posts and PM me damnit;)

^ In Taiwan, one can purchase a product called Whisbih, which is essentially an energy drink sold under the guise of a Chinese herbal medicine tonic (instead of a soda, as is common in the West). Its active ingredients include nicotine, and it's very popular among working class manual laborers there.
