end of a chapter

well the time has come
to end a chapter
what once was a new beginning
in the long journey
that is my life
i look around my room
and in just a few short days
it will be empty
ready to welcome a stranger in months to come
and i, boxes in hand,
attempt to pack up the last eight months of my life
send it home
or put it in storage
they ask me if i want insurance on it -
as if i could put a price on it!
i look at pictures
and realize i wont see these people
new friends
for four whole months
i'm just afraid
in that short time
i might be forgotten
will it be the same when i return?
or will i have to go about
finding out where i belong
all over again.
its so hard to start over
and as the days keep passing
i think its my only chance
because right now
i'm trying to pull myself out of a downward spiral
and there isnt any other way to do it
than to leave it all behind.
to those i've met along the way
you will be remembered
to those who changed me and touched my life
thank you
to those who were there for me when i needed them most
i hope to be there for you, too
and to the world i am leaving behind:
i can never leave you for good.
