Meth crumbs to small for me to find on floor or in carpet. But there is deffinitly some meth dust/crumbs here and there.. Maybe meth crumbs on parents clothing got stuck or rubbed in..etc.

What(if any) are the effects on a baby/child if they were to walk/crawl/or rub against clothing or a surfface that had meth particals due to the user spillng some when they were trying to take some out of the bag to smoke/snort/eat.....???

Probably none, maybe contact dermatitis, if his skin happens to be really sensitive to such irritants. So...is using meth around an infant THAT great an idea? :P

ebola

Seems the question has already been answered though, so do as ye will.

Come up with a way of containing your drug debris, like a huge plate over which you use the drug and its paraphernalia, or change the place where you dose, like to the bathroom where you can easily use solvent cleaners to clean up after a session.

That way you minimize any risks. And there are risks, as you evidently know, to having meth use around a young one.

Good action on stepping up and doing the smart thing by informing yourself.

Amphetamines have been reported to be absorbed via skin in case reports where children tested positive for amphetamine through methamphetamine drug-skin contact in clandestine laboratories. I don't find that far fetched as methamphetamine is both lipophilic and hydrophilic - in contact with sweat it's possible it could make its way through the pores in the skin all the way to the fat.

Amphetamine may also contain irritants and toxic chemicals as mentioned, so the wisest idea would be to keep it as far as possible from a child.

^But that is happening when people are making meth, it's not really the same as a small quantity of minuscule particles of meth dust being dropped on a floor and a child possibly stepping on them or someone possibly getting some particles on their shirt and the child touching the shirt, etc. I really don't think harm to the child is a huge risk in the OP's case, but I do agree that the wisest idea in future is to not put oneself in a situation where some meth might get spilled anywhere a child is going to be.

Also in my experience, being on meth can make you think you spilled some or that there are tiny bits of meth on things when it's not even true. Like I would hallucinate microscopic meth crystals stuck to my hands or surfaces.

Quick search of amphetamine - skin:

After birth, the infant can be exposed environmentally through the skin, through breast milk, via ingestion, and through inhalation. Older children are likely exposed more through skin penetration and inhalation than through ingestion.

Exposure to methamphetamine in both manufacturing environments and in use environments is, however, almost assured with at least 15% of children in use environments testing positive for the drug and almost 100% of children exposed to a manufacturing environment testing positive for the drug.(1,11) Exposure is caused by ingestion from household surfaces, inhalation from re-entrained aerosols, and dermal penetration into the body.

I didn't read the second study carefully, but I don't think that individual in the first report is making dexamphetamine.

If you're worried about it, you need to put measures in place so it's impossible to drop any. Babies will put anything and everything in their mouth.

This is true too. When I was homeless I stayed with a girl who did a lot of crack and she spent like an hour sweeping and crawling around on her hands and knees trying to find crumbs, constantly coming up to me asking if a piece of pasta or break was crack or not.

Do I need to consider using some floor/carpet cleaner or will a broom and vacuum suffice?

Im not even sure any is on the floor, not that i can see from sitting on the sofa where i did it. Probably walked over top of what may have been on the floor enough times to cause it to dissipate.

I don't do the pebble hunt anymore anyway because the salvaged flakes never seems to amount to anything more than a let down after all of the time and effort spent searching. If i ever get that addicted I may take up hunting pebbles again. Lets hope it doesn't go that far

In regards to you friend who canvases the whole seen for hours to scavenge up the last lost hope of a high,

The guy i usually party with is exactly the same, i saw him do it to the extreme, flashlights in the dark, then to the broom, and then he would repeat the process just to try and put his mind to ease. And he would sometimes do it a third time.

I saw this and said to my self I dont want to be this guy, of-course i ended up hunting the first few times at home(ending in disappointment)but i eventually saw him in the mirror when i looked at me, that was enough

I dont need to party that bad, give me a beer and I will watch you act like a nut when you take that puff of trash you worked so hard to get( who knows what you really smoked/snort... At that stage people are so fried they think a grain of old rice is a jackpot rock and then they smoke to no avail, and with out a second though of why.)

Not for me(so far any way)

For the quantities we are talking about, a thorough vacuuming and sweeping will do just fine. To be extra certain you could buy some of that powder that you spread over your carpet before vacuuming, which should help clean away more debris from the carpet fibers.
