The different subjective effects can be attributed to perceptual cues and environmental factors. As others have said, ethanol is ethanol, and in equal doses it will be the same.
Other additives, impurities, etc can certainly have an effect on the way you feel (especially the next day) but whether cheap or expensive, if the proof is identical the alcohol content is identical.
Since we're all essentially saying the same thing here (and I think the answer is pretty clear) I'll go ahead and close this. If anyone finds any evidence or research and would like it re-opened, don't hesitate to PM me about it!
