Bupe Effectiveness of Administering Bupe Strips via Nasal Spray?

Hello-

I was wondering if anyone has tried making a nasal spray solution with the new Suboxone strips and, if so, how effective it was vs. insufflation of the pills? I have been taking 2-8mgs of Suboxone intranasaly for the past couple of years, slightly lower dosages before that for ~a year and a half. Currently, I am generally taking 2-3 mgs twice a day. I originally began taking it this way as A. I was an addict trying to catch a buzz, even while voluntarily quitting "real" drugs, and B. because I was originally taking the bupe unprescribed, and, having limited access, I was attempting to make it last as long as possible and be as effective as possible. Being OCD and a former needle user, I always hated "wasting" any drugs with an inefficient method of ingestion.

In the past two years I have since gotten prescribed and occasionally take my Suboxone sublingually, however being acclimated to insufflating it, I find myself having to take at least 50% more to achieve the same effect, if not twice as much. I am attempting to slowly acclimate myself to exclusively taking my medication sublingually, as I eventually hope to stop taking it altogether, though I'm obviously not quite there yet.

Herein lies my predicament: I can save $60/month (for 6 months anyway) by switching to the Suboxone strips. I have heard they are slightly more effective sublingually, but somehow I doubt they're gonna "do it" for me compared to snorting the pills. I've never made any kind of spray solution for taking drugs before. Being a former needle user, I know that highly concentrated liquid solutions make it extremely easy to lose/waste lots of good drugs, while a highly diluted solution can be a PITA to ingest--I imagine this is true even more so with nasal sprays. I have the option to stay on the pills, but being broke as hell makes that cumulative $360 seem tempting. As for now I have elected to stay with the pills, but I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and am considering switching.

To get to the point, my question is, basically, has anyone successfully done this yet? I'm sure someone has--any feedback on the effectiveness vs. snorting the pills? I'm sure you can shoot them too, but I'm really not too thrilled about picking the needle habit back up--especially with Suboxone. I've tried it with Subutex before and was not too impressed, though I didn't have micron filters either (another reason I'm not too stoked on the idea--especially considering I'd be doing it multiple times a day), and multiple filterings through cotton probably wasted a lot of the drug.

I can't really walk around using nasal spray 24/7 or my family will probably get suspicious so, I'm wondering, how concentrated can you make the solution without wasting any of the drug? Would I be able to take 4mgs in less than 10 sprays? I don't have the time nor the desire to use nasal spray 40+ times every day.

So do I have the wrong impression? Can you make the solution pretty potent?

Sorry for the rambling, long-winded post. Any recommendations on the best and/or cheapest, readily available nasal mist spray-er are welcome. Do most of them have a long straw/tube that will reach the bottom of the container, making it possible to use small amounts of liquid? That's one of my main concerns--finding a sprayer that won't force me to take an hour spraying half a bottle of water up my nose just to take 2mgs of bupe. It is my understanding that saline solution is preferable to straight water? What's the cheapest/most commonly available way to purchase this? Contact lens cleaner? There are no needle clinics or anything around here that I know of--I always just used bottled water when I was using needles. I'm also assuming that just squirting a syringe full of Suboxone-liquid up your nose isn't the most effective? Also, if anyone thinks staying with the pills is the way to go, feel free to say so. Though I'd still kinda like to know the best way to utilize these strips, as I may not have the option to stick with the pills forever.

I apologize if there is a more appropriate section of the forum for this topic, or if it has been discussed before. Links to previous discussions, "how-to's," etc. are also appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Captain Heroin just gave me directions on how to make the nasal spray with the strips over on the bupe megathread. I cant comment on the effectiveness yet because i havent tried it yet. will be trying tonight hopefully and will post how it works compared to snorting my suboxone pills if you'd like that info.

Why would you make a spray when you can just put part of a strip in your nose? What's the difference?

^ I'd imagine that would be very uncomfortable and a hassle.
its actually not as uncomfortable as you'd think purelife. they dissolve just like in your mouth as long as you get a little water up there which isnt hard to do at all. just make sure you cut the pieces down a bit for easier arrangement. you'd be very surprised at how much you dont even notice them in there

The spray making deff is a bit of a hassle, i tried to make some yesterday and struggled a lot because it barely takes any water to dissolve these strips so its really hard to pull in to your oral syringe or whatever mechanism your using. after my failed attempt i decided to just go with the idea spaceyourbass had and it worked very well actually, felt just like snorting the pills, i got that light euphoric buzz and slowly nodded off to sleep :)

i can never catch a nod when i take them sublingually so i deff think intranasal is a lot stronger and provides you with more bupe.

Sorry I took so long to respond and am necro'ing this thread, but I have a bit of an update and a few more questions I'm unclear on.

So far I've stuck with the pills, but my doctor keeps questioning why every time I visit as the strips are cheaper, and I was told that the pills will eventually be taken off the market and completely replaced by the strips, therefore I'm simply paying extra money to prolong the inevitable.

So, it would seem that the strips, being as easy to dissolve and as concentrated as they are, are simply easier to dissolve in your nasal cavity rather than making any kind of spray solution?

What I'm wondering is, I imagine you guys aren't "snorting" the strip pieces, but rather simply "inserting" them a small distance into your nose, then dripping water into your nose with whatever type of mechanism you use, and allowing the water to run/drip farther back into your nose, and leaning your head back/perhaps even laying on your back, to accomplish this?

This sounds fine, however, the only problem that I can think of in my case is the loss of ability to administer any more of the drug in public restrooms, etc. If it was just a one time recreational thing I wouldn't care, but I'm taking this stuff every day, multiple times (not that many, but usually at least 2 or 3), and I don't really want to carry syringes around, etc.

I suppose I could pre-cut the strips and place them in a small contact lens container, etc, and carry an eye-dropper full of water. Do you all find that simply leaning your head back while standing works well enough to keep the liquid from running back out of your nose? Or do you usually have to actually lay on a bed or something?

Sorry if I'm splitting hairs here, I just don't want to switch to the strips any sooner than I have to if they're not really going to work well for me, and once I switch I doubt I'll be able to switch back very easily. Ultimately, however, it doesn't really look like I have much of a choice. Might as well save a little money if I can.

Thanks for any further clarification.

I love how you act like the dosage is necessary to stay alive lol. Slice off a piece and place in nose; they are better than the pills imo

^really?

im switching to generic bupre tablets pretty soon because suboxone tablets are being discontinued....

So if I understand you correctly, just place it inside your nose and let it sit there without snorting? Any water? Thanks....I've been taking the film since May 2011 and prior to that, the pills since Feb. 2009.
