I was using ecstasy daily or almost every day with my biggest break being one week for about 6 months. I quit one month ago and havnt touched it once.

Now every day I have pains in my chest and i'm heavily aware of my heart rate. im constantly questioning myself "is it beating too fast?... did it skip a beat?..." and every now and then, even when I'm not thinking about it I feel like a cant breath or like my heart and lungs quit working. I want to say its anxiety but what makes me worried is that even when everything is fine I lose control of my breathing. For instance An hour ago I was spinning a mix on my turntables and I lost control of my breathing and had to step away holding my heart making sure eveything was fine.

I've gone to the doctors and they tell me everything is fine, ive even had chest xrays and they didnt notice anything.

I dont know whats wrong and I wanted to know if ecstasy is to blame? is this long term? this never happened up until a month ago when I want to the ER. I was experiencing shortness of breathing and a heavily increased heart rate. Ever since then I havnt touched ecstasy once. The only reason I question if its anxiety or not, is because sometimes i lose control of my breathing completely out of nowhere :(

Please help.

I have that problem almost all the time. It is really annoying yes, but I am half-aware these feelings are not true. When I let go, everything is fine, but that is nearly impossible for me nowdays.

But let me share this. Massaging helps me to distract myself from these thoughts when I go halfy psychotic, so I recommend you trying it out. Else then maybe anti psychotic treatment will fit you well, but be sure they try SSRIs on you at first hand that are less heavy on the body. Talking with a good doctor is the best option.

Are you fairly confident that you were getting MDMA each and every time? Or is (meth)amphetamine + MDMA mixed pills still a possibility? I've never abused MDMA to that extent, nor (meth)amphetamines - to that extent, but I have abused stimulants for prolonged periods of time. I'd get similar effects when I stopped.

It definitely seems like its more anxiety related that any physical problem, but I could be wrong, I'm not a doctor.

We can't know for sure, but breathing and heart-rate issues are very much associated with anxiety. Especially if you've done tests that show nothing is physically wrong, anxiety seems to be a likely explanation.

Don't worry about permanent damage that will just make your anxiety worse, many people have used ridiculous amounts of drugs and still been able to overcome any mental health issues associated with that. Focus on what you can do to reduce or to better be able to handle your anxiety symptoms. Here is one book that I have not finished but has been helpful:

It's anxiety and it will take atleast 6-7 months for you to start noticing things getting better I del with this daily for 5 months and I'm finally getting over it with OUT benzo's I took 60mg adderall and 3 white rolexs and let me tell you overdosing on that shit made me think twice I've been sober from everything but drinking (occasiounly) for close to 5 months it will get better I abused the shit out of every drug possible so I understand especially abused MDMA/Ecstacy...

thats alot of x use ...over time i think it will fade a little but you need to steer clear of it....exercise and benzos now and then might smooth things out. i think x gave me anxiety

Earlier today i experienced a stinging sensation in my heart and then my heart rate increased rapidly. it felt like i had a heart attack.

ive had an ekg + bloodwork. I got it done when i overdosed on blue maseratis. they had meth in them. I was also smoking spice. they said everything was fine and i would make a full recovery.

I get these heart rate issues and pains almost completely out of nowhere. Even in non stressful situations. can anxiety hit you when you least expect it?

I'm very cautious of taking ssri's because of the damage i believe ive caused to my seritonin tissue. they put me on paroxetine and the second day on it i felt like i was coming down off of meth and i was going to die so ive immediately quit taking the medication.

When i go into doctors appointments they test my pulse (usually inbetween 74 - 92) and my blood pressure. its always fine and i never have anything to complain about. but when i get home and im trying to sleep is when i have the problems. idk what to do.

please help. and thank you to everyone who has helped me.

It sounds like you are experiencing anxiety. However I would suggest you get a blood pressure cuff to make sure you aren't experiencing serious hypertension.

Go to a doctor if all else fails; in fact it might be decent to go nonetheless if you haven't been for a while.

everyone thinks im crazy. my girlfriend is distancing herself from me because she cant deal with it anymore. I have coping skills to deal with my anxiety but then things just jump out of nowhere. for instance earlier when out of nowhere my heart rate jumped and it felt like i had a heart attack. is that really anxiety?

When i go to the hospital they say its all in my head. so its ot to be anxiety. but i never expected anxiety to include heart pains and increased heart rate... i just dont know :'(

Same problem

My heart goes out to you. I deal with the same problem and it is hell for lack of a better word. Extacy has changed my life forever. Breathing in air and your brain telling you that you are not getting oxygen, or having to actually concentrate on every breath because it is not involuntary anymore. Then the panic/anxiety sets in and you feel like you are going to die. Also just random anxiety/panic attacks for no reason....as I type this message I am dealing with one. I stopped march of 2001 and still have anxiety attacks randomly. The breathing problem went away for me after a year or so after I stopped. I noticed hangovers from alcohol bring on anxiety attacks....also smoking cigarettes. The only addvice I can give to help the anxiety is exercise and a good diet. Clonzapam works wonders for me. I will take 1mg when I start to have a anxiety/panic attack and 30 mins later I feel 90-100% better. Just know there are other people out there dealing with the same problems. I hope some of this helps out.

Yes anxiety CAN include "heart pains". But look, I doubt that is actually what you are feeling. Its more likely that heart valves/blood vessels are constricting as you have now offset your adrenal glands imo. It will feel like "pain" but it will feel more like someone tied a rope around your arteries and is pulling on it tight. Like a sharp type of sensation from the constriction.

Theres an easy way to check this. Take a beta blocker or even clonidine would work, and if the pain goes away, thats what it is. I'd be relatively confident thats what it is as ANY amphetamine salt has this effect on your heart, but its not actually your heart imo. Its your adrenal glands which are throwing off your heart from secretion.

You will notice although you think they happen at random, they are still being triggered. Before you were mixing a tape, you were being active, all it takes is a single anxious thought to provoke it or maybe you dropped something but I'm sure something small happened that you didn't notice provoke it.
What I mean is ANY change in your environment (door closing, wind blowing, someone screaming, dog barking) will cause your adrenal glands to oversurge norepinephrine and epinephrine into your blood. And immediately your vessles will constrict, it can also effect your heart rate and how it pumps.

I would be more likely to say thats whats going on. When you repeatedly take anything like MDMA, or MDA, MA, or just A lol (amphetamine) your adrenal receptors INCREASE over time. So now you have a build up of those receptors in your body.
So if you are sitting about living your life after a period of abuse, your receptors still havent' gone back to normal, and they stay like that for many many months. What happens is ANY bit of stimuli in your environment will cause those glands to oversecrete, and it goes straight to your heart. The pain you're feeling is likely just constriction on the nerves. But this sounds exactly like that you're dealing with.
Its sensitized adrenal glands.

Like I said if you want to find out for sure, take some inderal or otelenol, it will temporary lock up those glands, so no matter what you do they won't be provoked to secrete.

Only way you can settle this is by talking to your dr, and having him prescribe you these meds. But from everything I know from organic chemistry this is very common for any amphetamine (MDMA is an amphetamine) to sensitize those glands. Its like living in an enhanced survival state kinda like a lion in the jungle. If you were a lion you'd notice you get anxious about very little things, because their glands will often oversecrete the same way just for survival. In humans the effect gets turned down due to civilization. But using drugs offsets the natural adrenal equilibrium, and you are left with too many adrenal receptors. So saying in the past maybe a door closing would dispense on avg 5mg of adrenaline into your blood (as a hypothetical example), that would go to your receptors (of which you had less) and be uptaken normally. Now if you are doing anything, and a lower level of adrenaline is secreted, it will always feel to a degree like someones pointing a gun in your face. Stimuli that didn't stimulate you before, now will stimulate you (and now half the time you won't even know what stimulated you). And any level of adrenaline that is secreted in your body will cause an overreaction due to upregulated receptors. This is different than other drugs like opiates which down regulate. As its already been proven any type of amphetamine causes adrenal receptors to upregulate. I'd be very very likely to think now when you secrete any level of adrenaline, even low amounts from small things like wind blowing/someone calling you, your body will uptake it and overrespond due to too many receptors.

You have to wait 6 months to 1 year to get some normal functioning back. Although in worse scenarious your body can stay overtweaked for life.

This is insane! This will definitely cause you anxiety & other ailments for a while but give your mind & body the rest it needs. Exercise & eat right & drink plenty of juices & water & hopefully you will be fine after 4 to 6 weeks.

You abused the heck out of that drug & in return abused your brain & the chemicals in it. It will take time to heal & time usually heals all wounds.

Dude, I went threw the exact same thing you went threw & mine lasted for like 2 months. I only popped like 3 hits within a 2 week period apart from each other but when I popped that 3rd one, I felt something shoot up to my head & my heart race like crazy.

After 2 weeks, I went & got an EKG & they said everything was fine & its just anxiety. Anyway, I would get what you are getting, out of no where, my heart would start racing for no reason & I would control it by holding my breath for 30 seconds until it slowed down. Its really anxiety, something in the head where your chemicals are messed up & it will take a while to recover, but you will recover.

Hey people, didn't feel liek opening another anxiety thread jsut because another substance caused mine lol. I'd been doing some extensivie research with the 6-APB till 2 weeks ago for a total of 4 weekends. All in all that makes 8 researchs and i used 2-3 pellets on research nights. I get the research material from official vendors so i know its as close as it can get to pure 6-APB.

however i observed each weekend the comedowns become harsher and recovery took longer. On my last research night, which was saturday 2 nights ago, i had a big physical and mental crash. My energy levels were drained for the next few days, i could barely stay up and it was like torture to go to work. Intellectual capacity was diminished, a simple report i could reeady in 15 min was like biggest challange of my life. In those few days i was like in a dreamy state, a little far from reality but not so, even had weak close eye visuals from time to time. Also felt physically intoxicated, suffered from left and right abdominal pain.

By the end of the week i felt better but on 8th day or so i had a full blown panic attack. the onset of the attack was very freitening, i almost felt detached from reality, my mind was racing but i wasnt even ure what i was thinking.

It's been 2 weeks now and i feel the panic attacks are right under the surface waiting for an opportunity to come up but i control it with benzos. thoguh i beleive i developed a tolerance to xanax because even 500 mg cant put me to sleep so i quit trying to sleep and get up to write this rant.

I also get muscle twitches everywhere, calves, chest, arms etc etc. I have a feeling theres an electric current travelling thru my body that i cant get rid of. Gives me feelings of unease and discomfort. I am terrified by the idea that i might hve given my body permanent damage with 6-apb induced neurotoxicity, but not sure. any idea what might be causing the muscle twitchs ? Its really annoying .

I am also on ritalin which doesnt help my cause at all. so people, what do you suggest? I am thinking of getting a beta blocker because benzos build tolerance and cause memory problems. I have a box of Nebilet (nebivolol) which i will be giving a shot tomorrow. Is it dangerous to combine a beta blocker with ritalin? It's not a hypertensive crisis after all.. Or can you suggest another beta blocker which would not make me sleepy..

thanks a bomb. take care folks and stay safe.
