Ecstasy and Brain Zaps

Hi,
First post so please bare with me.

I'm 23 and have taken ecstasy in both pill and pure powder form on a number of occasions over the years. I'm writing this now even although the event I'm describing happened around 9 months ago as I've noticed I've been jolted awake on occasion and have definitely heard loud bangs as I'm falling asleep.

I decided to have a night in with a close friend and take some pills (UPS) and just chill and listen to music. We'd done this before so it wasn't unusual for us.

Well during the course of the night we had an enjoyable time and even went on an adventure to a local nightclub and met some people. We'd consumed a number of pills and were having a great time. At around 6-7am I decide to drop my last pill and I think this is where things went wrong. I didn't get any high from it, but I did start to get 'brain zaps'. These were like a build up of white lightning in my eyes then an electric shock across my temples. Honestly one of the most terrifying things I've ever experienced. I knew right away something wasn't ok and told my friend. But I just kept my eyes shut and tried to fall asleep and enjured maybe 2-3 more of them.

The next day I wake up feeling 'sea sick' nauseous and a bit wobbly on my feet - I should add I'd maybe had two drinks so I wasn't hung over.
I also experienced this extraordinary and really unsettling feeling of constant de ja vu.
That night while falling asleep I experienced 1 or 2 of these brain zaps again. Quite scary and uncomfortable.

This continued for 4 days, getting slightly better each day. I was also away on holiday on the 2nd day so my first few days away were a bit unpleasant. I was even considering going to the doctors I was that worried about it.

Eventually I was back to normal but very afraid of it ever happening again. I'm not a big drug user but this shook me. I waited a few months before taking ecstasy again, but the problem is I don't really get the same effect anymore. I don't really get high and euphoric, just very very sleepy with the usual clenched jaw, sweating, monged out feeling.

I know I was very stupid taking it so far, 4-5 pills that strong is stupid. But I did it and I can't go back. But I miss taking it now and again.

What happened to me? Was this Serotonin Syndrome? I've suffered from depression for a long time (not on any SSRI's though). Is there anyway to restore things to the way they were before?
I've had bright lights (when eyes shut) again but luckily no zaps but I felt I was close to getting zaps even after relatively small doses.

I've wanted to post this for a long time. Those brain zaps were horrible. Really was scared I was having a seizure or something. Plus occasional jolts waking me up just as I'm about to completely fall asleep since then.

Sounds like you went hard and just your brain and body getting back to normal.

You don't say if you tested your stuff. There have been reports of bad UPS pills. It's a compromised press these days even 9 months ago. If you got proper ones then you hit a possible dose of 200 mg for just one. You did multiple then your in the 0.5 gram plus zone (heavy session).

Also UPS reports are varied. There is a debate in EADD about dutch pills lack of empathy and effects as you described. In short differing types of manufacturing ingredients can lead to a bit of a lacking experience. Or could be you just not left it long enough or you lost the magic.

Brain zaps you describe just sound like what can happen at that point just before REM when all of a sudden you get jolted back awake. It's happened to me for years even before MD and I think it's a natural thing. For me it's usually the felling of falling and hitting the ground. I even fallen out of bed before. Someone with more scientific can probably clarify on here. It's worrying you probably because your focusing on how it can be bad.

Don't worry too much bro. Just take it easy exercise eat well and don't dwell to much on your "perceived illness". The mind is very good at building a scenario especially if you predisposed to depression and anxiety.

Take care

Thank you.

Yes I've read the same about those pills but usually they were pretty fantastic.

I've been eating healthy and really getting into shape, I'll maybe give it another 6 months before I think of trying anything again, and of course, I won't take it to the extreme.
