Employment Equality Regulations 2003

In order to comply with these regulations NHS Employers are monitoring sexual orientation and religion/belief in applications. Please answer the following questions:

Lesbian
Gay
Bi
Hetro

And then all the religions, including atheism

Should I say I'm a gay muslim?

My theory is that they have quotas to meet to ensure a diverse workforce, would this increase my chances?
£17,316 - £20,818 PER ANNUM so I want to maximise my chances

I doubt the NHS has quotas or targets to fill.

I've been spending ages writing down by hand contact details for all these companies I'm going to write to when I could have sped up the process by copy and pasting. What an idiot! :|

They won't have quotas per se. If it turns out that all their workforce are straight white males, they'll look at ways to increase participation from other groups: but not by refusing jobs to those straight white males.

On the application letter: suggest you customise it for each organisation you approach. A generic letter is probably going in the bin; a custom one gives you a chance.

Congrats carsick.

I got second in my application. Which OK is as bad as last, but I'm not unhappy. It came down to my opponent having more industry-specific experience, but I got really good feedback on the interview (including the word 'charming'). So I know all I have to do is wait a few years and then apply for the same sort of jobs, and I'll walk in :)

Yeah the application letter will be customised slightly for each company but seeing as I'm writing to several hundred places there's no way they are all going to be unique. :)

now there is proof that you should never 'be yourself' in an interview situation! ;)

congrats to carsick, that sounds perfect.

still no word back on that interview i had on thursday. fuckers. i've pretty much written it off now. :!

18-20 FUCKING grand for chatting down a phone?

I just took a job that requires a chemistry degree, for less £ than that.

I should mosey on down the fucking orange call centre then.

That would explain why graduate salaries are still being reported as so low.
Does it go up quickly?
In what I do, it's easy to get into low 20s as a starting salary, but it takes a good few years to get it above 30.

To be fair this is a shite job as they go, but I've been offered so much chemistry-related stuff at 14-18 grand, it's terrible. Then again I've applied for things up 25+k and got callbacks/interviews for them, just took this for a few months because it's convenient and they got back to me 5x faster than everyone else.

Essentially it depends on how long you're willing to wait for a job and how good you are.

It does indeed.
Assuming nothing goes wrong between now and when I should start, then I'm back onto a decent salary again, plus benefits. Will have to fit in a bit more in a slightly corporate atmosphere, but it's not too bad as they go.

15-17 for the chatting down the phone

18-20 for being a PA

Aye....but no job security. They sack you at your desk with slack excuses. Hence why staff turn over is so high and they'll employ you straight away. Telesales/call centre work is a cunt of a job...and a lot more than just chatting down a phone!

You'll be paid a flat salary....and get your bonus IF you perform and tick every single box they demand. Any excuse NOT to pay your bonus they'll find. With a fucking nit comb! No thanks!!!

I wouldn't even consider doing telesales. Market Research over the phone wasn't too bad but fuck trying to sell stuff.

Telesales is easy as piss if your just collecting leads as long as noone is gonna haul you up that your leads are shit.

justtalkreallyfastandoverwhateverthepersonissayingonlypausingforthe yesornoanswers.

Although to be fair i wouldnt wanna do it now. lol

Right now I'm looking at opportunities to go abroad and either volunteer or work.

Need to put some proper thought into it. Can go to Uganda and volunteer at a tourist lodge and help out in the local village but could I cope with all the poverty / disease etc. Or could go South America or maybe even just Europe and do some WOOFING or even save up for a bit and go to Oz for a year.

I just don't know. Put some serious thought into it over next few days.

For fuck's sake, Spadey, if they can live in those conditions with no choice in the matter you can cope with visiting for a year or so - it'd do you a power of good.

I started my job training last week and everything seems ok. Decent team, hours are good and compared to uni work it's pretty easy.

Slightly nervous carrying around bottles of enzymes with market values of £5-10m but all good! =D

Well I don't claim to be the best speller in the world. I've grown too used to relying on a spellcheck. However, if I was going to produce a document with the purpose of attracting people to work for my company I would make sure I used a spell checker and understood simple rules of grammar!! Thats what computers and proof readers are for!

The company is Tesco. I'm not contemplating working for them. If I was I sure wouldn't be after reading that!
