EADD Heroin Discussion Nininininineteen [19] (I wasn't really sure what was going on)

The desire not to work seems completely normal to me. The situation where most of us are expected to work most of our lives is a fairly modern phenomenon. It seems to have started with agriculture, along with slavery. I'd guess the widespread use of opium started about the same time :D see I'm on topic.

I'm not saying we should return to pre-agricultural life conditions, that wouldn't even be possible.

The work/life balance is wrong in this country, its even worse in some other countries. People work and are expected to work for far too long hours. The French are more on the right track, i think they work an average of about 30 hours a week, that is about ideal, providing it pays enough to cover lifes essentials and also allows for some treats and luxuries too. Working endless long hours until you are almost 70 years old, just to aquire more, bigger, better, newer stuff that you dont need is all wrong.

Ledbury a lot of poorly paid people dont know that they are entitled to "working tax credits" this gives them an extra £40 a week, but 3/4 people arent made aware that they are entitled to this. I was told this by a helpfull job centre advisor. I wasnt offended by your post, but was a little angry as it sounded like something out of the comments section on the daily fail, they either make me laugh or make me see red. Anyway, it was a fleeting emotion, and my post channelled it away, so there are no hard feelings, but there was a flaw in the logic of your post about making the unemployed work, and also the better off being unemployed thing is a myth. You may be right that some people dont want to work, i dont really want to work 40 hours a week, thats far too much, and leaves little time for anything else.

I'm holding down a full time job at the minute (albeit a Business Admin apprenticeship at £2.68/hour!!)

I'm 23 years old and have had my fair share of unemployment, it ain't that easy to just walk into a job!

I work 37.5 hours a week and only come out with £400/month apprentice wage, not much more than being signed on!

I struggle like fuck on that wage, anyone would, never mind having to pay for a heroin habit out of it too!

*Sigh* Can't wait till June then I will have been there 12 months and it will go up to minimum wage most probably.

Except in many cases it's just to provide the basics and have a family.

yeah thats kind of sad really. I guess having a wife and kids has its pros and cons. As a single guy, once ive paid my bills, any additional income for me is all disposable. So, in a financial sense at least, if and when i get back into work, im relatively fortunate, but obviously having a wife and kids can bring a whole new wealth of purpose, comforts, and pleasures into your life, of course its not all a bed of roses, and any family has their share of problems just as a single person household does.

I often wish I had a partner, just so someone else could do the dishes for a change :D and cooking for one can be a real pain in the arse. Plus I heat this place for one, it would do as well for five. In fact it would be cheaper, because humans generate heat.

But having kids is an expense, no doubt. There is the cost of heroin for a start. Hi Sam!

I have spent alot of time working with unemployed people - and the unfortunate truth is that the majority dont want to work, most have a side line as well as getting HB and JSA and all the other benefits that us working folk pay for. They mostly have the up to minute smart phone, 50 inch telly's. sky and smoke 20 fags a day - BUT the sanctions that DWP are bringing in are very harsh and there will be a step change in how benefit is payed /or not. There are plenty of jobs, why do you think so many eastern europeans come over here - there not afraid of hard work.

Yeah, cos the British are so afraid of hard work aren't they. I have worked in a factory that started off as all English but by the time I was made redundant it was about 80% eastern europeans on agency work.
The full time english workers were laid off over a period of time and replaced with agency workers.
It is a total fallacy that they are all hard workers cos believe me they certainly are not. Exactly the same as us,some work hard and some don't.
I went from taking home £370 a week to getting £63 JSA after my child support was taken off it.
So yeah I would really choose to have £63 a week instead of nearly £400.

and good luck trying to get a job in this climate when you have a criminal record
you might aswell have no arms

yeah i believe it makes things very difficult indeed. Even offences comitted when people were kids under 16 yeras old are still held agaisnt them, so for example they are unable to get a licence for jobs such as taxi drivers. Its extremely harsh to say the least. Obviously i can see why sex offendors for example cant get jobs working with kids, which is for everyones protection, but apart from these types of cases and other very serious crimes it would be fairer if there was some kind of time limit or expiry on any other type of lesser conviction, so that after 5 or ten years or something if the person has kept out of trouble they should be given another chance, and the slate should be wiped clean. It really doesnt help anyone if anyone with a criminal record is unable to get a job because of this, it doesnt give them a fair chance to start again, and to earn an honest living.

Brimz = ""would well it's moot cos i get what i get n can't afford a quack , i've seen Dr Tovey a few times n look what happened to him n Brewer n there chronies ? He looks fukin awaful google him n u will see what i mean"..

TOVEYS a ok guy i always thought, in fact all the STAPLEFORD people are decent. Much better attittude than a lot of key workers in the nhs (ex nhs), i would recommend stapleford to users who can afford it.
28£ forrnight script after initial assesment 200£ roughly . also got to pay chemist , i was paying £7 per pick up. daily pick up min 3 months is the rule

Not...even...bothering this year. Got my Methadone takeaway so just not being sick is enough. Will have a few whiskeys in a while after I've eaten dinner and its digested, with my annual joint to go along with it. Have a good one all :)

I often wish I had a partner...

Me too. Just to have another human who I can share my life with. I've been feeling very lonely lately but it could be well worse - I could have no family, no house, be in debt etc.

Happy Chrimbo and NYE folks xx

just wanna wish everyone a good one for 2014, 2013 for me has been shite. Ive lost more people close to me than i dare to count (all through cancer btw).
To everyone who was here 3 years ago when the world changed (you know who you are and what i mean), Ive not forgotten you and enjoy reading your posts now that i'm more of a lurker than anything else now, and its good to see your all doing well.

Xmas for me has gone the same as every year, i've blitzed all my gear in yesterday and have been running around all day scoring of people who i wouldnt dream of seeing any other time, but it wasnt that bad (wasnt too good either but..). Just got to wait till the morning now when my regular bloke will be on, thats if hes not gone on a bender and ended up god knows where.

Take it easy everyone

I already posted this in the warning thread but gonna post it in here in case some one misses it ....

There is some ridiculously strong heroin in Ireland I'm nodding off badly after smoking only just over 0.1.. There's no real tell tale sign of it looks like normal gear - it was got in a town in the midlands not in Dublin so if any Irish posters are lurking and worried then PM me I can tell you the town name I don't want to post it in public.

Anyway please be careful! I'm just glad that I stopped IV use and am smoking it - otherwise I could be in the hospital right now or a casket

And Brimz has posted about strong H in Bath (probably) so presumably it's widespread.

edit: just noticed you got it in the Midlands so maybe not that widespread but better safe than sorry.

:D I've never heard of the Midlands of Ireland. Why don't you have a Central Belt, like Scotland? Come on celtic brothers.

edit: and sisters.

No the Midlands of Ireland.

Its not all about the UK you know!
