Just saw the new James Bond movie Spectre. On par with Skyfall if you rate an action movie.

Beasts of No Nations - A drama based on the experiences of Agu, a child soldier fighting in the civil war of an unnamed African country.

Such a great movie and really worth watching.

Another one that I enjoyed was

The Man from UNCLE - Bit of a retro flash back but a fun movie all the same.

^ I've got the Man from UNCLE Bear. Might give it a watch soon.

Kingsman the Secret Service was half decent.

Watched Straight out of compton a few days ago... highly recommend. wicked film

Keep meaning to watch this but the missus fucking hates hip hop to an almost upsetting level, like surely she can appreciate the uhhh historical aspect to it? Nooo. Gonna bang it on tonight anyway.

Beasts from no nation was a really well produced film, I enjoyed it, I actually know people who have been in that environment rescuing child soldiers from that kind of war. Very sad but a must watch.

The production and acting were top notch, it almost had a documentary feel about it. Really glad I watched it, even if the subject matter is so depressing.

yeah the music was rather good too. netflix doing suprisingly good productions lately.

'I dream of wires' is another cracker to watch on netflix

It's not technically a movie but a mini series. Brilliant though I enjoyed it a lot
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4341996/?ref_=nv_sr_1

A gritty fact based drama series that tells the astonishing story of a drug dealer who was arrested then given a desperate ultimatum: serve over 20 years in jail, or go undercover inside one of America's most notorious biker gangs. Charles Falco opted to go undercover and for the next three years he led a crazy and dangerous life infiltrating the Vagos motorcycle gang, collecting evidence while faced with the constant risk that he might be discovered and become one of the gang's victims. Each episode unfolds a different step in Falco's covert investigation into their illegal activities, while across the series, the drama builds as carefully constructed character arcs unfold bitter personal rivalries. These tensions finally erupt when the gang's Vice President is killed in a motorcycle accident, unleashing a chain of unforeseen consequences that ultimately tear the gang apart. With suspicions about Falco's true identity mounting, the operation threatens to unravel, leading to a tense and dramatic conclusion. Drawing on the wealth of material from Falco's time under cover, along with broader documented historical research of inter gang rivalry, this series dramatically captures the reality of outlaw biker counter culture: a world where freedom is equated with the right to carry guns and trade drugs with impunity, and respect can be earned through fear... Following the conclusion of his undercover operation with the Vagos, the reformed Falco goes into witness protection... but hooked on the adrenaline rush of undercover work he volunteers to go undercover inside not just one, but two more biker gangs...

Watching this just now half way through sad but a very good watch, thought provoking stuff.

Watched Foxcatcher on TV yesterday. I felt like something was missing in that film.

Tried to watch Jurassic World earlier on. Even tired and bored it got turfed half way through, just utter Hollywood crap.

I'm sure I mentioned that when it came out, even in 3D on the big screen - utter Hollywood crap sums it up.

I watched a very strange but interesting one over the weekend

The Deep Dark - "A failed sculptor discovers a strange, talking hole in the wall. It has the power to fulfill his wildest dreams...and become his worst nightmare."

Pretty much sums it up and I can't say much more as it would spoil it, it is very surreal - has an creepy feel about it from start to finish and I would say worth a watch.

Also watched uncanny - "The world's first "perfect" Artificial Intelligence begins to exhibit startling and unnerving emergent behavior when a reporter begins a relationship with the scientist who created it."

It was well made and I should have enjoyed it but 'meh' sprung to mind

Happinesss
The unbearable lightness of being
Run Lola Run
Anchorman
If you like musicals and dance numbers (Not my cup of tea - but I like Catherine Deneuve and the cinematography absolutely dazzling, The Umbrella's of Cherbourg' Jaque Demme pushed the limits of th brand new techicolour it to the limit totally. This is the safest film. No matter how bad the comedown etc - this is 90 minutes reprive
La Haine
Close Up, a brilliant Iranian film
Blow Up, Goddard's picture likely one if not the the defining pinnacle of the Nouvelle vague
La Jetee - one of my favorite films ever, haunting. Chris Marker (The 12 monkeys essential remade top down. Guess they had to as the original is only 40 mins)
You, Me and Marly - ery very much a statement of it time, West Belfast 1992, follows a group of joyriders looking to escape the daily carnage by creating a fare bit themselves. The films class because I know two of the main Actors :) The chase scenes are powerful, the tracks banging, and well the end is - to be see!
Night of the Hunted, feat the most menacing whistling that I will eventually sample it into a mix
Mad Max 1, 2 and 3 - epic Oz cinema
another oz film, that should really be avoided in a fragile state is 'The Boy In The Bubble'
All the Powell and pressburger films are worth revisiting, Most do seem to have a very obvious interpretation, but very often there is a complete dichotomy at play.
Mention that cos I did one of P&P's films, Peeping Tom for my dissertation - ah sure i'll not go on. Ido have a film degree and access to 70k odd films - yet still watch family guy religiously.
And there yesterdays repeats! looking forward to watching a few other recommendations.
Oh comedy - Best in Show

I watched In Order of Disappearance (Kraftidioten) yesterday on Netflix. It's essentially a Scandinavian action/"black comedy" about the most ordinary of people, Nils, a snow plough driver who sets out to avenge his sons death. It's certainly got that Scandinavian noir feel to it, dark & gritty with a few dark laughs thrown in. Plenty of stunning Norwegian scenery to boot in it too.

Thats a good one Chatative, I had a good laugh to how the guy in the parachute landed at the end of the film. :) kinda reminds me of Sightseers also lovely dark comedy.

Landmine Goes Click - Trapped standing on an armed landmine, an American tourist is forced to watch helplessly while his girlfriend is terrorized and brutally assaulted.

Slow film, makes you feel pretty uncomfortable. Grim sums it up.
