[ECstatic]

The crowd throbs and sways
rythmically
methodically
almost hypnotically
the bass pumps like an intravenous pulse
and slowly... the music invades every sense
I look up to see the DJ
without really seeing him, but rather getting a sense of him.
the lines of ravers
move in feverish worship
the drug begins to take hold....
my vision lurches between the impossible and the real
the two are no longer distinct.
people smile - the kind of unrestrained, unconditional smile that seems so foreign and yet so welcoming.
My limbs are liberated
I feel liberated
oblivious to what i am wearing or doing
there is only the music
and the warm loving vibe.
I know I am home.

FYI: The Cult of Dionysus was one of the great religions of ancient Greece. Their methods of worship included taking a mind altering herb that they gathered, orgies, and human sacrifices to appeal to Dionysus and ask for her blessing. However, the method used most often for her invocation was dance. They would dance themselves into a frenzy eventually reaching an elevated state called ecstasis. (where the word ecstasy is derived from) Related words to this state they accomplished include hysteria and affliction.

it's all so much more spiritual than most people realize. i consider myself a pagan, and i'm a raver, and i totally understand where the two meet!
