One method I found was extremely useful for quitting cigs (I say quit, I went from smoking 10 a day to 10 a week) was to start off with an amount of nicotine that's appropriate for how much you smoke (say if you're a heavy smoker, start off with 1.8% nicotine) and gradually reduce in strength... if you find the jump between strengths too much, there are zero-nicotine liquids, so you can add a few drops of the strength you want to step down from, and a few drops from the zero-nicotine liquid, reducing the amount of nicotine fluid gradually that way (this can be a little tricky, but it's a nice way of mixing flavours as well!)
