Dying Hair

I really think I should start doing it professionally and not myself.

I baught this stuff that is supposed to turn Dark/Black hair to brown.....brown to lighter brown....and medium brown to a sany brown type colour.

Its looking more black-ish than anything....but I messed up and wasnt paying attention and i added the conditionar creme too....so nothing might happen at all.

I might have to go buy another box of dye. Gesh!

$12.99 for half assed job
$60.00 (i think) for professional

being broke..... $12.99 wins LOL

I might post a picture later for the lulz. 8o

I think it's impossible to lighten your hair without getting it done professionally... unless you bleach it or something. My hair is naturally brown and whenever I've dyed it myself it's always gone darker. But I'm too cheap to get it dyed professionally, so I just stick with store-bought dye. :)

Naturally mine is a very light brown but i've been dying it for over 20 years and so it's become this medium-dark brown colour to it. A few months back I dyed it pink and it worked perfectly....well mostly. Now I wanted to dye it the colour it was before I started dying my hair light brown but epic fail. funny thing is my eye brows are black but my hair was always a blondy-red growing up then light brown. blah.

you can't really notice cause crappy webcam quality but the "after" pic..well still kinda pinkish in it....like a meld of pink and brown and black.....weeeeird but I'm growing on it. LoL

I too am having hair dying issues-
but like you- can't bring myself to pay someone 50 bucks for dying my hair......
I tried dark brown again and came out with striped hair- its dark brown and red.....and red/brown and probably other colors i don't see:)
I used that perfect 10 stuff.....but i think its my hair- it doesn't want to dye. :(

$60 bucks? $50 bucks? Wow, truthfully that is some cheap professional color. Usually when I go to the salon, for cut and color and I usually have some foils thrown in there too I end up spending around $150 (which includes tip!). The girl that does my hair is FANTASTIC! And I have had some BAD hair experiences so I have no issues paying her the money because she knows what she is talking about and she knows my hair and what colors will look good on me.

I definitely will not put boxed color in my hair any more. Mostly because I was really into that when I was in high school and I had layers and layers of color buildup so I would never get the proper color that I was going for on the box.

My hair when I was born was black, then it lightened up to a gorgeous golden blonde, and then darkened up again to a dark brown (I'm a "level 6 or a level 7" in terms of salon lingo). So what color your hair was a child, or even a young adult may not necessarily have a baring on what color you hair is an an adult.

I know it's a lot of money, but I highly recommend finding a really good hair person who knows what they are talking about, especially when it comes to color.
