DXM Tolerance Questions

The Killer with a thousand faces has got me in his
First some background.

I've been on Fluoxetine (Prozac) for a few months, started at 20mg/day now on 60mg/day. Anyway, before starting the prozac I tried a first plateau dose of DXM and got barely anything. Later I tried a 600mg dose and got minor dissassociation.

More recently, after being on the prozac for a while I took 600mg and had the experience of my life. I had heaps of different trips, including OBE's and open eye'd hallucinations. I was still tripping out the next day and it took about 3 full days to recovery completely. Even more recently I tried 600mg again, and got a high level of disassociation, but dont remember a lot of the trip (although I still enjoyed it).

After that I tried a low dose (around 90mg) and although fairly mild, I really enjoyed it. I had no cares in the world, I was euphoric and more social than normal (a good thing in my case).

I've read that tolerance to DXM builds really quickly. I take it because I don't know any dealers to get anything thats not OTC (I know, I'm lame...too bad). My question is given the fact the prozac is making the effects last longer, (and possibly intensifying them), will it mean it takes longer for me to build a tolerance?

I am still in control at this point but very fond of this drug and want to make the most of it. If I could do daily low doses with no tolerance build ups I would, its simply that good for me. (I used to enjoy occasional (every few months) codeine euphoria but the prozac stopped that working :(, oxycodone still worked but I ran out and can't get more)

Any advice from fellow Dexer's would be greatly appreciated.

Much love guys,
Peace.

1 week per plateau is a good "detox period", from what I've heard. You may also be interested in Ketamine, it's safer to take with SSRI's and shorter acting.

I don't reccomend takind DXM alongside a SSRI. DXM itself inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and can cause serotonin syndrome when mixed like this. Be very careful.

There's two or three different mechanisms for DXM tolerance (I think) - sigma agonist tolerance (no idea what this would do, honestly), tolerance to the SNRI effects (which is what you're talking about- the euphoric effects and wellbeing), and tolerance to the NMDA blocking dissociative efefcts.

I wonder if DXM could be effectively repurposed as an antidepressant at lower doses?

Thanks for the response. Ketamine is restricted right? Or am I mistaken? The main reason I'm left with taking DXM is its readily available, and (for now) it works. I'll try to go easy though, I don't want to lose the magic. I think I should respect the drug so to speak.

Cheers

Yup, Special K is illegal pretty much all over the world, if not all over the world. There are analogues, like methoxetamine, which are questionably legal (might be covered under US and Australian analogue acts), but the effects differ slightly, being more stimulating and psychedelic than sedative, and a different "kind" of dissociative, according to anecdotal reports.

You should not be combining DXM with an SSRI; it can lead to serotonin syndrome which is not pleasant. In fact it can be deadly.

The 3 days it took you to recover is probably due to this interaction.

Methoxetamine technically couldn't be prosecuted under the Analogue Act because the Analogue Act only applies to schedule I&II drugs, and ketamine is schedule III. Thus if you were to get in legal trouble there is hardly any concrete law that they can prosecute you with. Maybe some abstract "intent to take" bullshit, but I doubt they will do anything for small amounts.

Also I have found my dex tolerance to be quite absurd. I would say just take a big break, if possible, and then do it sparingly. I stopped for about 3 months, then only took it once a month for a few months and now after taking it every week for two months I have a tolerance again.

It depends though, because if you have access, adding another 100-150mgs could easily counter tolerance effects for a while. I guess it depends what you want out of the experience. I love pretty much every aspect. I used to do it because of the euphoria and music enhancement, but now its more of a dissociation that I appreciate more, which comes more with higher doses.

Also, my friend dexed on Prozac and hated it, he said you needed that shit out of your system to have a real experience. So I would just halt DXM and Prozac use for a few weeks then start dexing again.
