i understand that mixing MAOI's w/ DXM can be fatal. I was just prescribed effexor xr for anxiety (75 mg) and was wondering if these can be used in congruence... have not started taking it yet and dont plan to till after my dxm trip. how long should i wait? and will i be safe?

Try looking in a perscription medicine book or website and look up the drug that was perscribed to you, usually it lists the effects of using your med with illicit drugs.

Only it isn't an illicit drug.
I can't really find what class Effexor is in, maybe it's on its own...

if the doc gave you a list of foods you shouldn't eat with your meds that has things like wine, beer, cheese, etc... on it then it's an MAOI.
but i'm pretty sure if u do a search for effexor xr on google u can find the company website and get the info

Go to a pharmacy and ask for the package insert for effexor. It should'nt be a problem for the pharmacist to give it to you. Those things are usually pretty comprahensive (sp?).

effexor is an SSRI, not an MAOI (which are rarely prescribed anymore). you *should* be ok, but call a phramacy and ask, jsut to be sure.
