DXM dizziness - lower plateau-related?

I am wanting to pursue DXM into its dissociative plateaus, but I am having a problem with a dizziness-type feeling on it that has made my previous trips uncomfortable.

I have only done DXM on 4 or 5 occasions (and not since over a year ago). All of my trips were med-high end first plateau (and possibly low-end 2nd plateau). I remember never being motivated to pursue it into higher doses because I just wasn't having any fun with the lower dose trips, because of said dizziness-sick feeling.

I have read that once you get into high 2nd/low 3rd plateau doses some of the sick/dizzy feelings go away as the drug manifests itself more as a true dissociative. Does anyone have experience feeling dizziness on DXM in lower doses but not medium range - high doses?

I have experience with nitrous and enjoyed it greatly, so my motivation for this is to /eventually/ go into 3rd/4th plateau doses with DXM. Of course, I'm still going to take my journey with DXM slowly, so at this stage I'm more interested in doing a high 2nd plateau-area type trip...

In case anyone thinks it could be from other ingredients in my DXM preparation, there are none, of course. I more or less know the dizziness is relatively common, I just want to know if I can 'break through' it.

I'm assuming taking an anti-vertigo (say 50mg diphenhydramine) with my DXM isn't really a good option?

Any info is appreciated, thanks.

From the Erowid FAQ;

6.1.2 Dizziness

Category: Frequent

Closely related to nausea, DXM can cause dizziness in many users. If you get motion sickness this is probably a bad thing; otherwise, enjoy the free-fall sensation. Dizziness is almost certainly a result of impaired processing of vestibular sensory input (i.e., signals from the middle ear, where position and motion are sensed).

Could reducing movement (like laying in bed or sitting still) reduce the dizziness?

I ALWAYS took 2 dramamine before taking DXM. I've eaten a lot of DXM in my times and never had any problems with this.

I definite'y recommend staying still for higher doses. DXM is a lay on the couch/in bed with headphones on type of drug for me.

The "spinning" is one of the most characteristic parts of DXM for me. I have distinct memories of floating in space spinning in every which direction.. with my couch spinning the same way as me. I think the spinning is part of the experience, though I never felt "dizzy" with it.

Also I recommend skipping the low doses.. (this is my experience.. ymmv) I'm not sure how low you're talking, but 1st and 2nd were never pleasant for me. It's been so long that I don't remember why, but they weren't. 900mg was my usual dose and it was a fully immersive dissociative experience until I got some absurd tolerance which is also when I quit using.

Ah yes... the "spinning" (I call it the space trip lol) is probably the one reason I drink cough syrup... It's an awesome experience. I feel like I'm flying through space rather than spinning, as I'll lie in bed and start "taking off" and then my body will go off my bed and start drifting in another euphoric dimension. Sometimes I'll even have an OBE, and be like holy shit how can I still be in my room?

But to get there, you have to get past 2nd plat. which is where I think your getting stuck at... personally, just drink enough for 3rd plat. and wait it out, you won't regret it ;)
