Alright man, I see how you feel. But if you believe that this is just a binge that will pass, a habit that you'll kick, and so on... why are you drawing other people's attention to it? Hate to abide to the cliche, but it sounds like you're worried about yourself and asking for other people's help. Hence, subconsciously, you don't really believe what you're saying about it being no big deal.
As for long term effects, from what I can name: memory loss, decreased concentration and focus, depression (though that will pass), probably more. Be careful for seizures! A friend and I had some bad semi-epileptic experiences, and I still don't know whether to blame DXM or e... or genetics... Since I'm guessing you're young, your brain has time to repair itself, but in order for it to do so, you have to abstain from using for awhile. And the longer you use, the longer it will take your brain to repair itself... and more difficult it will be to do so.
But aside from the brain damage, the insomnia and anorexia that I'm guessing you're experiencing (unless you've overcome those effects of DXM?) have certainly shaken up your body. Once you stop, you'll have to work on getting back into a comfortable circadian rhythm. At least take some vitamins. And when you stop, load up on the 5-HTP to replenish all that lost serotonin. (And though it's common sense, just to make sure --- don't take 5-HTP and DXM in conjunction, or you're risking serotonin syndrome)
DXM abuse... makes me think of Lil Wayne. Although I agree DXM is fun when nothing better is around (with pharmacies' crappy security, it's basically a free drug haha), there are better chemicals for anxiety... ones that don't make you dissociative. I don't know how important you regard social affairs to be but, keep your friends around so you won't be looonely. In terms of remedies for anxiety, I find that self-confidence beats numbness anyday... even if it's chemically induced self-confidence. Although of course you could also just become a happier and more comfortable person by eating healthy, exercising regularly, engaging in various activities, blahblahblah. But to each his or her own...
oh yeah and erowid: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/faq/dxm_side_effects.shtml
