After a DXM trip, you have an afterglow. It's not a hangover, but a separate high in itself. You aren't sober for the next day. You're "glowing." This means that you can still get trippy effects from listening to music, playing games, watching movies, reading books, going outside, dancing, and most other activities. Your mindset is altered in a pleasant way.

However. For me, this is accompanied by an olfactory hallucination (smell) that has been bothering me for months now. It is the most beautiful fragrance I have ever smelled in my life, and I can't name it for the life of me because I've never smelled it before except after tripping on DXM. It seems to be a side effect.

Phantosmia. Hallucinating scents that aren't there.

I wish I could fucking describe this scent, but I don't even know where to begin. It seems to change depending on how I feel. It's so lovely, but trapped inside my mind. It's a floral, sweet, innocent scent. The type that inspires elaborate romantic daydreams in your head. If I could only identify this scent or have it created, I'd be so ecstatic. But, I can't. My sadness is unbearable.

Things did smell differently the next day for me after my one time with DXM (350mg). And it did smell sweet and floral as you describe, but I guess at the time I felt like it had more to do with the wonderful mood I was in that day.

Ahh, I'd love to take DXM again if I could skip the trip for the beautiful afterglow. I recall psood0nym mentioning that he gets an effect like this from DXM + ondansetron (@ 12mg), and it sounds like something I'd like to try for sure.

never experienced the fragrance youre referring to but i always feel very fuzzy (in a good way) after a dxm trip. the afterglow doesnt compare, however, to a mush hangover. those feel amazing :)

This is exactly how I feel. The DXM afterglow would be perfect if it were a trip on its own. If there were a dissociative equivalent to LSD in terms of cleanliness and no bodyload, the DXM afterglow would be it. It's amazing, but a little mild. I still get visuals (very vivid daydreams and NMDA visuals in the dark) from it and music appreciation. If it were more intense, it would be my favorite type of trip.

There is a NMDA-Antidepressiva in research.

Definitely noticed this before. Although I'm not sure if it is a distinct smell for me. Something is different about smells.

Maybe its a smell thats already there???? I'm not sure. I have never hallucinated smells on dxm, but I sure have had enhanced smelling from it. I usually am more aware of smells that are already there.

this is fascinating.

i've been holding back from DXM because i like it too much, but now i am tempted to reconsider...

...chasing after ethereal aromas, felicitous fragrances, secret spirit scents, peaceful parfums of paradise, orgasmic olfactory apotheosis...

sounds appealing indeed... :) <3

I have a very active nasal perception that all my friends seem to lack, on certain psychedellics I as I call it "smell-taste-fell" memories....

thats a thinker

when you say NMDA visuals in the dark are you referring to the fractal esque shapes that fly around when eyes are closed? because ive been getting those since a dxm binge i indulged in a while ago. theyre not unpleasant at all, i just had no idea what they were caused by
