drying fentanyl gel

Is it possible to dry out the gel inside a 100ug patch then iv or im it? And how would you properly measure out a oral dose on a 100ug patch.
 
The units you are working with are very small your talking micrograms. If your not familiar with the patches just put it on the first couple times.
 
Dissolve the gel into water, then measure the amount you have. divide into desired dose. Just be sure to take into consider they are 100mcg PER HOUR, not total. Assuming they last like 3 days, that should be, uh, a lot of doses. I don't really know, does anyone actually know the total amount of drug in one of those patches? 72hrs*100=72 doses/patch, if IV'd? Or does it work that way?
 
I'm pretty sure the 75ug/hour contain 7.5mgs so your figure thats like 100 hours of doses in one patch - your going to have to be pretty careful! -
I know from experience that it takes around four or five hours to feel any effects, but who is to say that that is the threshold.
 
I don't know much about the topic, but I think you might die if you inject 100 mcg of the stuff. 100mcg is a dose spread out over an hour. You talking about an hour's worth of a high dose for someone with a high tolerance all at once. He hasn't even said if he has a tolerance. And who knows what else is in the gel?
On another note, why would you want to im it? Why not just eat it?
 
Im sure shooting it up IM takes less then eating it. So how many milligrams or what ever would be a good dose for someone with a slight tolerance to opiates.

From what I've seen, these patches are quite finicky, so I'd want to make sure your method works before possible wasting part of a patch.
 
Too true, fentanyl is a very tricky drug. It might only take 50mcg IV to knock some people on their ass, while it might take someone else 200mcg(this is without tolerance, also). Start with 50mcg if you are going to IV. If you are going to IM, you would probably be ok doing 75mcg. But always start low, it's easy to OD on this drug. I don't actually know anyone that's ever attempted it, or anyone that's even done fentanyl before, actually, so I can't say it's going to work.

I believe the 100ug per hour contain 10mg of fentanyl, at least according to the packaging.

The packaging shouldn't lie. 10mg of fentanyl is a lot. A source no longer is existnece was getting $35/1mg amp for the stuff, and I thought that was cheap! It's no wonder these patches are going for so much on the street(as witnessed on some recent news program). Too bad I've never actually seen any on the street.
 
Disolving the gel in water isn't really that effective.. we tried this with a 5mg patch and for some reason it was a huge letdown.. now drying the gel would just be foolish - you're better off simply taking it as a gel, thats easier to measure.. I still find that just wearing the patch is the best way, as when I tried to eat it I felt like so much was being wasted.. the only alternative I found that had good reasults was from smoking it..

Hell, the things are expensive to begin with (unless, of course, you have good insurance). A box of 5 100 ug patches, Duragesic brand (although I don't think that there are generics) cost over $200 at Walgreens. That's $40 a patch.
I would assume, however, that most ppl w/legit scripts have decent insurance, so even if they sell them at reg cost, or a few $'s more, they will make quite a profit.

^^^ I like the idea of the cost of my drug habit falling on those greedy uncaring insurance companies and HMOs. Wait, the burden'll just get passed on to the hardworking, premium-paying American taxpayer... oh well. Better them than me. :)
 
Smoking IS a waste, that is why I have said about 32 times in this thread alone, you WEAR THE PATCH LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO! After about 30-48 hours (when the patch has just about beome totally 'dead') you can then cut it open and smoke it..
