I've often posted on here to ask for advice regarding my depression and everytime I've posted it felt like my last attempt to get help. But I'm now in a somewhat better place since starting university, although I don't feel like I'm enjoying life as much as I could be or should be. I think the SSRIs have helped a lot, my feelings are more rational and my low moods don't last as long. But I don't want to be on these forever, and I want some sort of joie de vivre so I can progress further, hopefully socially, because I'm still very isolated.

So I want some sort of enlightenment because I feel very out of touch with who I am, I've changed so much in the last few years and I don't really know where I'm going next.

If I could at all I would begin to taper off my SSRI immediately and then smoke DMT for a week, but it would be very difficult for me to get DMT, it seems to be very rare in this country. The price wouldn't be a big issue for me, I have savings and I don't think I would mind spending them on something that would have a life-changing effect on me.

Is there any other drug that can help me with self-discovery like DMT? I'm sick of therapy and medication.

im not sure with this one but im just going to mention it as i would like to experience it. ibogaine.

supposedly a 'born again' like state of mind after use.

Be very careful looking for self-discovery and enlightenment from drugs. Psychadelics or not.

The process begins with the self, and its a very difficult thing to do, trying to walk the off-beat path you seek, we all seek, though some never venture past the fork in the road.

If you can master dicipline, psychadelics can offer alot in what you are seeking as tools. They can also be counterproductive. Keep in mind they are powerful catalysts, and nothing more. Tools which can be used and misused, to create or destroy.

Not trying to scare you, just don't take dmt or any psychadelic lightly, and know when you dose, you can put alot of intention/focus into guiding it, but at the end of the day they are unpredictable.

I agree with daytryptr psychedlics may not work for you and they may not give you the correct information or the right answers, and they're just a tool not the ultimate answer to everything.

You don't need illegal drugs for self-discovery or enlightenment.

Therapy may not help either since the purpose of therapy is just to show you that you alone have all of the answers.

Get into daily meditation it will help. Exercise will as well. YMMV.

If you plan on getting off of an SSRI talk to your doctor and tell them how you want to do this.

If you want to be more sociable get out and try to meet people, hang out with friends, or go out in public and talk to strangers.

You create your own reality.

Enlightenment is a slow process and if it happened all at once it would be pointless. It's not the destination it's the journey, and what you learn yourself.

I'm not claiming to be enlightened but we all evolve, and it's not going to be easy or fun; but that's the point.
