Drugs for alcohol withdrawal (GABA?)

I have had a nightmare of a week to be honest.

I tried to stop while also doing a course (To be a volunteer in my city).

A few times I had to leave the course because I had to be in the toilet being sick, I simply had to go and get some alcohol to stop it..simple as that. I couldn't function.
I did have some alcohol in the morning just hoping I would be OK, but during the day my body was just feeling so bad and physically sick.

I missed a few parts of the course and had to repeat them.

I told my girlfriend last night about this, of course she knows I have a problem but I have been trying my best to hide it.

I managed at the very most 36 hours without alcohol and that was crazy..the sweating, shaking, alertness (In a bad way, every noise and sensation seemed amplified)...give me weekend speed bender comedown any day from this (Years since I took speed).

The first thing I think of when I am wanting to stop, is do I have enough to help me in the morning / afternoon when it hits me.

I think you should really consider getting some medical treatment and using a drug to help with the withdrawals while you detox. Stopping alcohol abruptly can be dangerous. I hope you're ok <3

Two amino acids will almost absolutely solve your problems.

L-Theanine and L-Tyrosine

Seriously though, don't swap one drug for another. One addiction for another. Fix yourself naturally from the inside out, through amino acid neurotransmitter precursors.

Believe me, I know how bad it can be.
It is beyond a joke with my "doctor" at this stage. I have made so many appointments and they have cancelled them.
My doctor that I had when I registered has been off on maternity leave.

The doctor on the appointment is always different, but it is still cancelled.
I have tried to get another doctor, but it is extremely difficult to get one here.

I don't know what my best option is...I have campral, but I really don't think that helps, plus it doesn't help at all in the short term for withdrawal.

The amino acids might be something to help once I get over the withdrawal stages, I really need to research that :)
My replies are late but it has been because I have been trying to stop so many times and I haven't wanted to look at my laptop, obviously not successful..

Old thread, I hope you've managed to quit by now. The way I have done it is walk into the Emergency Room. They are required by law to give you help even if you don't have an ID. If they give you trouble just say you're G.I. bleeding and don't know how many seizures you've had, that'll get you in fast. They usually give you an IV with Valium (diazepam) or Ativan while there, along with liquids and nutrients. Ask for a G.I. Cocktail too. After 4 to 9 hours of drying out at the ER, ask for a prescription for Tranxene (Clorazepate) 15mg tabs. 1-2 every 4 hours; and taper off them for a week. Doctors are pretty good at prescribing that benzo because it has a long half life and is less addicting than any others.

I'm trying to do research on amino acids and other GABA supplements. There are some very expensive rehabs here in the U.S. doing "bio-chemical repair" for alcoholism. Some claim they can remove ALL cravings with 3 days of an IV of their secret formula. If I've self medicated for so long with poison (alcohol) and other illegal drugs, I'm sure I can figure out how to self medicate with neuro supplements.
