drugs and temporary paralysis?

i've experienced this several times in the last few days. i've been taking small amounts of ghb to keep the withdrawal at bay, a small amount of ativan and 5htp.
the last time it happed was night while i was lying on the couch wathing tv. i felt perfectly sober and could comphrend everything in the movie i was watching but i kept hearing the phone ring and kept trying to answer it but i couldnt speak (it actually turns out that i was trying to asnwer the television remote. amd the phone had never rung.)
i could move barely and it took extreme effort even lift my hand a few inches off my chest. (my bf came just happened to come over to me and think i was passed out on g and in him "shaking me" to wake me up the paralysis went away.
has this happened to anyone else? or does anyone have any explainations?

Withdrawal? What were you addicted to? Were you doing any other drugs?

addicted to ghb. other drugs taken that day: ativan and 5htp

I never knew that ghb was addicting and from what I remember, I never felt withdrawel symptoms...just fell asleep....

Sounds like sleep paralysis to me, and the drugs probably contributed to it. I've had that happen many times when sober. It's scary when it occurs, but looking back when it's over it's kinda cool.

Its happened to me a couple of times peaking realy hard on MDMA. I could not talk for a few minutes, too intense. But could still move my body ok. just could not talk...
