Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Doors, Pink Floyd, Syd Barret (solo and with floyd), Grateful Dead... ahh too many great artists to even name! "Great" artists are so rare now :(

It's all about the Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco stuff. The kind of shit they jammed at The Acid Tests. Bands like The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and so much more.

It's probably my favourite era of music. An abundance of great artists. In particualar all of the Doors albums (1967-1971) Black Sabbath- Only the Ozzy years (1970-1978) all of The Beatles stuff especially the later stuff. Led Zeppelin, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, The Animals and only early Rolling stones (1965-1972)

junky music?

my friends keep talking about junky music, that are bands that have atleast 1 addict in it that only plays to support their drug habit, atleast thats how they explained it

one band they mentioned was babyshambles ( pete doherty frontman actually admitted to be in a band to support his drug habit )

but is there such thing as junky music?

new york dolls (david johanssen), the ramones (all of em?), sex pistols(sid viscious), iggy and the stooges (iggy...), happy mondays (shaun ryder), primal scream (all of em?), depeche mode...

...i guess heroin is a popular drug =|

...apperently Lou Reed didn't have a serious habit =\

but who knows...

Leftover Crack (moderately known bad ass punk-ska band), the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Keidis and Frusciante), Ray Charles, Stone Temple Pilots (Weiland says he is clean now, but remember when he had to record No. 4 in jail/prison?).

those are just the first from the top of my head. I will let some more respond before I drop a bigger list.

Do you mean to ask if there is music that is solely defined as by people who are junkies?

I have no idea what junky music could be. Seems to me that music is too eclectic.

( next time ppl pls read the first post in this thread, explains it all =/)

Ummm, just so you know saying "junky music" does not somehow mean "bands that have at least 1 addict that only plays to support their drug habit." I don't think you made that clear.

People gave you lists of bands with persons who are/have been in a situation similar to the one you described. What else do you want?

Perhaps there are people who currently play music to support their drug habit. I am doubtful that any musician exists simply to support a drug habbit. Their love of music and their ability to play music is not a product of monetary gain or getting fucked up. So, I would say no there is no such thing as "junky music." However, there are junkies who play music.

Im pretty sure that there inst any "junky music" as your friends describe it. But Im pretty sure there are alot of bands who use drugs, either to enhance that rocker lifestyle or to relive stress of the rocker lifestyle.
Either way you look at it, there are bands who use their money for drugs , but I doubt there are bands who became a band for the sole purpose to suppoert their habbit.

Hey kid... its safe to say WE DID READ your first post. Junkies can be in bads of ALL DIFFERENT TYPES of music. I stood in for a friend in his band when he was in the hospital wonce... I got to sing and I made money to buy drugs... specficically HEROIN *GASPe!* Does that mean the music was "junky music" because I played it once? Because Ray Charles used heroin does that make his music "junky music?" I think that your view of what a "junky" is maybe skewed... Check your PM box

I would say that "junkie music" is music that junkies find interesting, rather than music made by junkies.

Is Nirvana junkie music? I doubt it.
Is The Velvet Undeground junkie music? I'd agree, because it holds more interest to junkies (from what I've heard)

And I'm fairly sure Kurt Cobain did more heroin than Lou Reed ... so ... whatever.
This is dumb. :|

what about "drugdealer" music?

*a band in which at least one member sold dope (esp. crack) to get the record contract (esp. hip-hop)*
