Can see your point totally there. Problem is where do we as recreational drug users draw the line? I'm sure there is many who would have the point of view that smoking some weed on the weekend is their "acceptable" level of rec. drug use. Towards the other end of the scale it is clear to see from some posts in bluelight that other people see shooting up H, K holing themselves, smoking meth, ice or whatever, as being their "acceptable" level of recreational drug use.
Unfortunatley everyone has an opinion. And the opinion of the majority is always going to take over. Hence the reason why some drugs aren't legal. Even though there has never ever been a single OD on weed and i'm sure that given the right situation, a government run and supported MDMA lab would keep shit like PMA off the streets and kids out of hospital. Did anyone notice during the recent election campaigns, the trend to aim policies towards the elderly. Australia is increasingly becoming an older nation brought up on beer and smokes. Try telling your nan that smoking weed is great fun, and poses about the same health risks as smoking a cigarette. The older generations were brought up to believe that anything classified as a drug will kill you. Have a look at this site and just laugh.
http://www.notodrugs-yestolife.com/. This would have to be the worst site for anyone interested in finding information on drugs.
Imagine ypu've just told your parents that you take E once a month, sometimes more, sometimes less (as i do). If the parents were to stumble onto that site which comes up as the seventh page in a google search for E. Irrespnsibly the first quote on the homepage is as follows
“He who uses ecstasy destroys himself and dies.” — Corriere de Romagna, Italy, October 19, 1996
Is that the type of message we want to spread around. Surely the church of scientology should know a few things about science, For example a few weeks ago i took a tablet sold to me as ecstasy...i'm still alive. It must take some time for these deadly effects to kick in (I'll give about 80 years).
The problem as i see it is, that we are still a minority and until that changes there will always be a "war on drugs" and along with that the intolerance of those who support it.
Fuck i've gone on for a bit there but i hope i've got my point across. Keep spreading our 'gospel' and in the future who knows? Maybe fifty years down the track we'll be able to say that our harm minimisation practices paved the way for a safer society.
