Drug use has made me homeless

Yea there is plenty of jobs, but once your wallet, vanishes then you want to work but ain't got an ID to get a job. It takes time to get all that shit token care of. Especially when your living in a state your not from. So you either got to find a hustle or someone that will pay you cash for work...So yea that's currently where I'm at

may want to check and see if you can get a free ID.. tell them its so you can vote.. probably get a free one. Yeah picking up a major yard sale can be a nightmare. Just break it up into easily accomplished tasks and start knocking them off.

Job markets are great in areas of the US right now so that’s a plus

Wish you the very best
True, lots of places desperate to hire after the pandemic fucked with things. I see hiring signs literally everywhere, I work at a grocery store and some of the weirdest motherfuckers have been hired. I caught one guy doing a bump of coke in the break room, just casually. He looks drugged out all the time, but we're so low staffed that they took him. They hired old ladies who have to go shit every 5 minutes or fall over and hit their head, and one kid who's been stalking some of the girls in the store, finding them on facebook, endlessly texting them...

It’s kinda crazy as where did everyone get off to that there is no longer anyone to work?

Yeah stalking is beat.. I’m male.. I don’t even want to think of what women deal with.

Stalking is cowardly shit.. especially tech stalking. Creepy people suck.

You haven't hit real homelessness until your sleeping on cardboard and using your backpack as a pillow

Being homeless means simply being without your own home. I was homeless at 21 when I packed a bag and a box of textbooks for law school and ran away from home. I spent time housesitting, those were the better weeks. And time couchsurfing, also not bad. But I did spend time under bridges, or sleeping at the University where the security guards were nice enough not to kick me out.

All of those experiences were being homeless, and I couldn't use shelters because of being trans as due to being on testosterone and obviously not wanting to use a women's shelter and to be fair I wouldn't be allowed to anyway as I passed as male, but not having had any surgery made men's shelters very dangerous for me, I had no choice but to sleep on the street when I ran out of options, or do sex work to have a bed to sleep in for the night.

Please don't diminish someone's experience of homelessness, having to couchsurf is stressful, unpleasant, and just as big an issue as being on the streets homeless.

OP, I suggest looking into community organisations where you live, and seeing if they can help advocate for you to find some stable housing, even if it's in a shelter temporarily if you can handle living in one.

I hope things get better for you soon.

Thank you, and well it definitely sounds like your a driven person and the security guards knew you were trying to better yourself, so they didn't mind you being there. But, yea I'm at a shelter temporarily and my case worker where I'm doing my MAT treatment is helping get into housing.

That's good to hear. MAT treatment is often very useful in stabilising people (like myself, and hopefully you) so that they can achieve other goals and fix up area of their lives in which they are struggling. It definitely worked for me.

Make sure you consider how long you want to stay on it - which form of MAT are you on, as well? Some people find that they only want to be on it to taper off whatever they're using, which I've done (unsuccessfully) in the past. Others find a couple of years is a good stint. Personally I'm probably going to stay on it indefinitely, unless something changes. And there's nothing wrong with whichever option you choose.

Please keep us updated on how you are doing.
