hey everyone, this is my first real post here on BL.

i'm curious if anyone has information or experience with drugs/medicines having an affect on skin health?

i have used adderall recreationally for years. sometimes i'll use insufflation as a method for doing adderall. i've noticed this makes me break out and be more prone to acne. i don't know if it's related for sure. moreso i'll notice it with insufflation as oppose to oral use. it makes sense, though i'm not exactly positive if it's a result of the drug. it's really made me hate doing it and have stopped using it so frequently.

anyone have similar experiences, even with other drugs?

i don't get high and pick my skin, thankfully i've never done that, so this isn't a result of that.

any insight would be appreciated!

ive heard around the place that hard opiates helps the skin become more clear from pimples/acne.

when i was doing subs and heroin i did notice that my skin would clear up, but that could have been because i stopped eating.

Well, there are many factors that come into play. In my experience, stimulants like cocaine and amphetamine ocassionaly give me acne the next day too (especially cocaine). However, I don't blame this effect on the metabolites of the drug itself rather I think it is a result of the increased perspiration and not getting enough sleep. I don't know any people who have been heavy users of amphetamines for many years, though I know some habitual cocaine users and their skin tends to turn pale after cocaine binges.

The only other drug that has caused me acne the day after is Demerol (has quite nasty metabolites), but it could have been due to the methamphetamine i snorted a few days prior to using the demerol.

The only drug I KNOW deteriorates your skin after long-term use is ETHANOL...there are many examples out there. But I knew a long time alcoholic back home, he was in his 50's but had the skin of a 70 year old. He also was a gardener, so it's possible that most of that damage occurred from sun exposure, but i'm sure the decades of alcoholism didn't help either!

Hope that helped answer your question a little. Would love to learn more about this myself!

that was definitely helpful, thank you! makes a lot of sense that it would have to do with oily skin and sweating on the drug rather than from a metabolite. but it depends on the person and the substance i suppose. i wish there was more info about this. i'd like to keep my skin clear lol. :)

I wouldn't say opiates clear up skin, in fact if you get itchy on them you are more prone to touch your face and skin with your hands. I have done them fairly consistently, though not daily for large periods of time, and I still have problems with acne.

The only way I can see them helping is by easing stress, that and because it feels so damn good to wash your face on a good dose of kratom or opiates haha. I would bet that adderall is making your skin a little less healthy, that's just my opinion.
