Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place, correct me if I'm wrong. I recently have gotten a leave replacement job for a teacher at a high school. I also like to smoke weed occasionally. Now, I've been approved by the Board tonight which means I have the job (passed my background check, fingerprints, etc). Board approval makes it official. I was at the administrative offices today and they told me I needed to get a physical. No specific date, I just have to have it before the job starts in January. Now, on the paperwork, there is a long list of things the physician can check "positive" or "negative" to, such as heart, abdomen, lungs, etc. As well as a few for EKG, audiometry, urinalysis, and drug screening. Now, I'm thinking that this is just a general form that has drug screening listed in case one were to be administered. I have not been asked to do a drug test, nor have I been asked to sign anything consenting to one. They just asked me to go for a physical. Does a physical usually contain a drug test? I highly doubt it, as I've never been tested at my doctor's office before. Also, I doubt I'd have to have an EKG. So, keeping in mind that I've been approved for the job already, do you think I'll be tested? I don't think so, but I need to be reassured.
Also, I've read up in their policy and they mention drug screening during a physical for candidates with a conditional job offer. I am led to believe that I don't have one of these. Every other part of the physical section mentions "newly employed" teaching staff. The drug testing part mentions candidates who have a conditional offer. I am not, as far as I know, under a conditional offer. Also, it said the Board would have to pay for it and they'd select a lab themselves. I feel like if this were to happen, they would have sent me to a lab after my interview last week. So I don't think I'll have one, but again, just making sure.
Thanks for helping a paranoid guy out guys...
