Short story, my wife and I are currently looking into getting Life Insurance plans for us both. My wife takes Tapentadol daily for diagnosed Fibromyalgia. However she is not prescribed the Tapentadol for Fibro, only Lyrica. She has a good source for the Tapentadol and is not prescribed it. So we can’t say on the application that a Dr is giving it to her and shes actually tried a couple of times to get a legit rx for it but the doc refused and prescribed an NSAID instead. She takes what is a normally prescribed dose daily.
The life insurance company will do a drug panel. I am wondering if the Tapentadol might show up? I know its not very commonly used and dont know if its frequently tested for or may simply show up as an opiate. If so, she will likely get refused insurance based on my understanding. If this is the case we might need to go for a no exam life insurance policy, which has higher rates and lower payout. I dont really think that quitting for a week or two will be an option for her as she has a demanding job and doesnt want to deal with withdrawal. Though i may reccomend to her to switch to kratom for a couple of weeks, but I dont know if she’ll like that suggestion. But I know we’ll have much better luck passing the drug screen with just kratom and lyrica in her system.
Anybody with any insight on this? Thanks!
