Drug rotation to avoid addiction?

Don't underestimate the power of getting addicted to being high in general.
You could end up mixing all different kinds of drugs to keep getting higher...
Also in the end you'll definitely prefer one high to another, depending on your personality.
It might sound like a smart idea, but I think it'd be more logical to do if you want to avoid tolerance rather than to avoid addiction.

Yes, this is right, I agree.

I've often pondered this option myself, considering how much I need my Klonopin for Panic Disorder/GAD (and motivation, shit, I've even enrolled in school since being put back on my meds). Always nervous about dependance, although I seem to end up running out 2-3 weeks after I get my script, which keeps me a permanant state of non dependance (has worked for years, first with my diazepam, now with k-pins). I had always wondered if their were an alternative medication (just to get me through my stressful workday) that I can take when I'm taking that 2 weeks off for the benzos (I'm really not into the idea of being addicted to the green little miracles). Any suggestions?

Sorry to be a dick and post twice, but has anyone any experience with a similar situation described here? I might start my own thread for anxiety sufferers who are content on NOT getting addicted to benzo's. Thanks Heads!

it could work.

although...
you may end up addicted to all of them
& just avoiding withdrawal from one.

i jus do whatever i feel, personally painkillers weed and alchol is my fav combo and if i have all of them, ill do em all at once. and yes agreed weed is not addicting, it is jus YOU that has no self control.

I always rotate drugs simply because tolerance builds or I get bored. I tend to crave a drug which I don't have in hand but when in hand can take or leave. I like to kep a little dose of everything around ... so if I get the impulse I can have a play.

Whomever said weed is not addicting .. semantics I suppose but it's habitual and after 4 years of an ounce or two per month I'd call that addictive.

I still enjoy the odd blow out but mibbies cos' I'm old or more to the point every other bugger is old and don't do drugs no more ... I rarely do them except as I say for the odd blow out.

you may avoid physical addiction from whatever benzo and/or opiate you throw in the rotation, but if you follow some of the scheduals posted in this thread you're most likely going to get addicted to simply getting fucked up. Doing a different drug every day of the week isn't really a suitable substitution for doing the SAME drug every day of the week.

u mean you rotate to avoid becoming physically dependant on them? you are obviously a drug addict, just like me. all the things you use/abuse are drugs. alcohol is also a drug. but what you're doing is not a bad thing. if u insist on using something, i would keep moderation in mind.

oxycon and previouslyhere. . .yes I already acknowledged that im still addicted to getting fucked up in my original post.

its just to avoid physical dependancy / withdrawals

I tend to get addicted to something, quit and move on to something else. I've come to realize that my rationality is pretty fucked up. Also, when I strat taking a drug that I used to be addicted to again, after about a day my tolerance and withdrawal symtoms are right where they were when I quit.

I just realized this one in "other drugs", i've been speaking about psychoactives in general as well, like I've been known to use DXM and cubes a lot then switch to something else etc. I'm big into benzo's for panic disorder, opiates i'm not really into (done too many too much), but I love Adderall (don't do it often), I have severe attention learning problems (yet constantly read and theorize), therein lies my yen for that particular drug.

the mental addiciton is the real battle, I think you already know your fate when you are struggling with trying to control your drug use by rotating them when you think you already "might be addicted" to one of the substances.

The whole point of rotating is to not reach the point where you "might be addicted" to one of the substances.

Maybe I'm wrong for positng my queries in this particular thread, Its not really a matter of "having to be fucked up", but when I have my bad days (anxiety/panic wise) and have responsibilities to take care of and having one of those bad days, I sometimes need something to set the stage for the whole day, usually i take 2mg of klonopin in the morning and i'm set all day, no trouble with work, can come home and take care of all of my responsibilites (cleaning, cooking, etc) and am even primed to hang out with freinds (extreme social anxiety on my "bad days" or days wherre i'm prone to mindless anxiety at the drop of a hat). I am however aware of the risk of dependance, usually leaving a week and a half break between continual use of 2-4mg of Klonopin (prescribed) daily. I'v been doing this on and off since 16 (when first presribed xanax) and have yet to catch dependance. My only concern was the time's where I need it but when it falls on my two week tolerance break. Anyone have any experience with anything of the situation mentioned here
? Sorry for the rant, 7am caffeind fueled digressions, they'll be the death of me. ;)

that is pretty much exactly how i got addicted to drugs.
I never had a schedule or anything, but basically i did whatever drugs i could get and smoked weed and drank every day. Smoking weed and drinking every day didn't help much either. but one weekend i'd do coke, the next ecstasy, a few days later maybe some shrooms or acid, then some hydrocodone.

as time went on it just became easier to get some drugs than others. as some drugs got easier to get, i began to acquire a taste for certain types of highs. unfortunately the more addictive drugs were the easiest to get.
be careful. and remember when depression comes creeping in that you've been taking all sorts of drugs fairly regularly.

Yup, I was first scripted Valium by my Doc (He was actually a freind also so he gave me many boxes) when coming of Effexor cold turkey about 4 years ago my new Doc however refuses to script them except 2mg ones ... lol
.. anyway I digress

I don't have enforced holidays but do take holidays when they are simply not needed from a day to a month or more. I've never yet had any withdrawal effects and tolerance although slightly raised at times seems to remain pretty constant.

The same happened to me.

It's very when you take a different drug everyday (and all good drugs), it's very difficult not to fall in love with one of them, and starting using it more often.

If you use XTC, Coke, Alcohol, Weed, Opiates, Benzos, etc... during a week, chances are you will really fall in love with one of them.

I was put on effexor at age 16 by some spineless greedmonger of a malpractice suit waiting to happen. 2 minutes of talk and a month long sample pack (fresh from the pharm reps hands), So you and I could be considered alike in this situation. It took a year of being on the terrible shit, not getting better, terrible side effects, terrrible agonziing withdrawel when i missed a dose at 24 hours (i've heard it compared as being on par with heroin withdrawel, none of which he mentioned to me at the time). Finally after doing some research and finding out that doctors are not to be trusted (psychiatrists espiacally) I had my mom come with me and have him taper me off the shit (he actually had to taper me off with lexapro, because he had me up to 700mg a day of Effexor XR), and he scripted me xanax .25 60 pills. Whoo eee. But he has no problem increasing the doses of SSRI's that have couuld possibly have permanant effects on your brain's serotonin systems and natural brain chemistry.). So yea, I basically wanted to murder this fucking asshole. I told him I had Anxiety from day one (he insisted it was depression) and when I said the effexor was giving me axiety he put me on 3 (countem, 3) consecutive atypical anti-psychotics (seroquel, zyprexa, and one other) all of which i took once then flushed. I went back to challenge his reasoning skills, inquiring why he would put me on atypical antipsychotics that had no medical hisotry or relieving anxiety (this of course with me showing no signs of manic or psychotic symptoms, just panic disorder and generalized anxiety), and when i referred to them as "atypical antipschotics" (which they are) he got very uppity and declared that "he likes the term mood stablilzers". Yea, I'll bet you do, with the monthly cost for these medications being minimum 300 a month i'll bet you'll label them whatever term makes them marketable. Your a Greedhead, a whore, a disgrace to the medical community. And that, my fellow freinds, is why I hold contempt for anyone with the title MD.

LOL ... I concur with most everything you've said although here in the UK scripts are $15 so it's not really in a Docs interest to script any particular drug except maybe the freebie conference and mugs. I must say your Doc should see a Doctor .. loon!

Yeah, I was put on Effexor for GAD although the Doc seemed to think it was Depression causing GAD not GAD causing depression. I went back after a month or so saying side-effects awful, massive increase in anxiety so he doubled the dose of Effexor .. WHA!

Long story shory I simply stopped taking Effexor and went bonkers. No advice on the taper was ever given. He did rescue me by giving Zopiclone and Valium.

Had a discussion with my Doc recently (the new one) and asked why he would script Paxil (my Doc in London scripted me this but I never took it as it was a ruse to also get a few boxes of Valium which worked) or Effexor to anyone as a first line. He said he would never script Paxil but Effexor he's happy with. I asked again but as a first line? He refused to debate the subject so I just told him what I wanted and he obliged. He thinks I'm a pain in the arse as I always question anything he tries to script even if it's for a sore throat.
