Drug does not affect first time?

Hello guys.

Got one question.

Is it true that if you try a new drug (drug you have never done before), is it a big chance you will not get affect by it? Since your body dont know what, or know how to react. But if you try it 2-5 times later, you will get more affect by it then the first time since your body know how to deal with it.

Example: im very new to alcohol but when i have take several shoots (many) with my friends, i still feel kinda sober maybe abit fizzy but not to much. While my friend is getting really drunk?

Does my body fright against it?

So do anyone get any theorys about it :)?

Thanks!

I've heard this from a few people about heroin but didn't experience it personally. Everything I've ever tried has worked straight away.

First joint I had, allegedly a well packed one did nothing. The second time I tried it I was floored.

Your body fights against a foreign substance everytime it enters your body and each time it gets more effective at it. So maybe you just don't realize what it feels like to be drunk and you don't realize that you are(that is way more likely than your explanation)!

this makes a lot of sense to me.

So my body is drunk, but i dont realize it. Well should i just drink more then until i realize that im drunk :)?

This is not always true. It is actually pretty rare in my experience.
Are you reffering to my comment ? Please explain! Not being argumentative but that is what tolerance is,it's your body getting better at fighting off the drugs so each time you need more and more. Works the same with antibiotics or any drugs!I'm sure it is possible everbodys system doesn't do it as efficiently but every healthy human body does it if not the common ccold would kill you.

Boga no I'm not suggesting to you to keep slamming back drinks , also could be you just have a natural higher tolerance then your friends could be from genetics, body mass, faster metabolism whatever!

This reminds me of the first time I ever tried 2ce . my stomache was like what's that chemical haha.
ahhh good times . I usually get drunk of about 5 shots , it depends if your want to get drunk or completely wasted, and end up in the hospital from alcohol poisoning .

In my experience, it takes a few times for the body/brain to adjust to the effects of a drug and realize how it feels.

Can other also confirm this?

Because i have took some few drugs, and 99% there is no effect :/

Pretty annoying, and feeling kinda a sad that most drugs dont got any effect on me :(

Scientifically speaking that is not how the body works. I would go with the explanation that either you don't really know what you're looking for, as in you don't know what it should feel like so maybe you just don't notice the drunkenness. Or you just didn't drink enough. I mean if you really wanna test your hypothesis, then try to drink more than you've tried before; drink a lot. This is terrible harm reduction advice, but if you're feeling like you want to go there, then at least be very careful; remember that alcohol can sneak up on you and lay you on your ass if you drink too quickly. Also remember that alcohol lowers inhibitions, so when you're already drunk but don't know it yet it may seem like a good idea to continue drinking more than you had planned beforehand. Just be careful and don't drink on an empty stomach.

Now, why is this a problem? To me it seems like you're quite lucky. If you can't experience the high or you don't find the experience fulfilling then there's a big chance you won't get addicted. Why do you even want to get high if you've never been before? I don't want to make too many assumptions, but is it "peer pressure" or you want to try to cure some other problem by doing this? The reason I'm asking is because I have the same story with nicotine. I have tried smoking and everything, but it doesn't get me "high" or feeling nice, so I find smoking pointless and for that exact reason I don't smoke and I am damn glad for that. Now, alcohol does get me high and I'm addicted to that. Honestly if alcohol doesn't live up to your expectations, just leave it be. It's one of the worst drugs to get hooked on, so take this as a sign that you're better off without it. If you just want to get high, smoke some pot or something.

My husband can drink 3 beers and get drunk, and i can drink 3 beers and feel a buzz. Everybody's body reacts differently. I don't even drink that much, neither does he.

I've noticed something similar with almost everything I've tried:
I may still sense the effects of it, but it's not until I've been using it for a fair amount of time that I really sort of understand what it feels like. First several times I drank, I still felt the alcohol, but it wasn't until I had been drinking for a while longer that I really started to get a feel for it, know when it hits me, etc. Pretty much the same thing with kratom; the first few times I tried it, my body mostly just felt kind of "tingly", and I noticed a slight change in mood, but the longer I used it and the more experience I had, I began to know what to expect, know when I start feeling it, and so on.

So for me, anyway, it kind of depends upon experience with whatever substance.

Hi Boga,

First 3 times I tried marijuana, it had no effect on me.

First and only time I tried cocaine, no effect.

I tried heroin several times via snorting it and had no effect, even if I increased my dosage (i.e 5 bags had no effect on me).

Tried to IV once (2 bags), no effect.

Upped my dosage to 3 bags IV and then after that it now effects me and I get a high.

Some people are like us. My doctor told me it could be that I have a "super liver".

I occasionally hear this but I never get anywhere near as high from drugs as I do the first time around... this was especially true with psychedelics, MDMA, and cannabis. This usually leads to dissatisfaction the second time around until I just accept that I will never get that high again.
