Hi Bluelight,

I will soon be coming into the possession of a full ounce of dried psilocybin mushrooms, specifically cubensis (dealer calls em "Stargazers"). I do not have access to a freezer or fridge, and I was wondering how I should store them. Would a very large glass jar previously used to store weed work? If I CAN use plastic safely, how should I go about it? I don't think I'll be able to vacuum pack them in any way.
P.S. I don't know how long I'll be storing them for, but probably less than or about 2-3 months. I tried to find this info on shroomery.org but couldn't find anything satisfactory.

Thanks!,
The Little Prince(ss)

The post icon SHOULD be a mushroom...and I can't edit it...

Your glass container will work just fine. Keep em' out of light but even in 2-3 months you shouldn't see any difference in quality.

I kept mine in a ziploc bag for the longest time and they still rocked so I'm sure you'll be good. Just remember to eat them sooner than later.

Use a glass jar with metal lid and stuff the perfectly dry shrooms in there. Next go to a shoe store (we're doing this ghetto) and ask for some of those drying pouches that come with shoes, they will have some left over. Zap these silica gel bags in the microwave for 15 seconds several times (this to not nuke your microwave) and let them cool, then put them in your small jar with the shrooms. Close the lid tight, wrap the jar in tin foil and store in a dark closet.

Doing it like this will maximize the time you will keep them potent at room temperature.

I was going to suggest storing them with desiccant in an airtight jar as well. Big bags of desiccant are available for purchase at hobby/arts/crafts type stores. They're typically used for drying flowers. I use them for drying illicit drugs.

Check they are bone dry - they should snap when you bend them. If they're still wobbly then they arn't dried enough.

Glass jar is always best as it doesn't let air through like plastic.

That is to remove any water they may have absorbed. They only have a certain capacity and you want them to be able to suck as much water as they can from the mushrooms.

why didn't i think of that. cheers man

As long as they're dried properly they should be fine. They should be so dry that when you bend a stem in half it's totally dry and cracks.

Just use silica gel as someone else posted to get the moisture out and then you can store them in a plastic baggie or glass jar in a cool dry place. I did this with a few leftover grams and they were fine about a year later, and all still just as potent.
