Ive been thinking lately about growing up in the world and staying true to certain ideals while adapting to society. My question to you intelligent people:

When does conforming or adapting to your environment/society turn into a loss of integrity?

I hope this is clear...

HMM correct me if im wrong, but are you basically saying that society is holding you back from pursuing your own agenda, as they all lead you astray from what you really want out of life, telling you your wrong and are trying to make you conform to THEIR agenda?

If so, i understand where you are coming from. But i also believe, that, because truth is always here now, one must simply train himself to always be able to find or recognize it. "Wherever the shadow falls, the light is always near by." In this sense, one may never be lead astray or lose his integrity.

No matter the circumstance, time or place, one may always keep his integrity because he remains a witness to all changes. To further my claim let me use this text i got from somewhere some time ago, i cannot remember where from, but here it is:

"the yogi who knows that the entire splendor of the universe is his, who rises to the consciousness of unity with the universe, retains his Divinity even in the midst of various thoughts and fancies. (1) ... This entire universe is a sport of Consciousness. One who is constantly aware of this is certainly a liberated being"

i think conformity is such a hypocritical concept.
i wish there was a better word/connotation for it.

conforming is never a loss of integrity. do what u want dude
if conforming is less stressful, then do it. if you wanna do something else, then do it.
but dont just be different because thats whats in. thats just as much conforming as doing something you consider conforming.
