Hi everyone...

I am sure you all know how a large pharmaceutical company in Australia recently recalled a large number of products including "TravaCalm," a motion sickness remedy containing Dimenhydrinate. Apparently people were complaining about side effects such as hallucinations from the drug. When I found that Dimenhydrinate was psychoactive, I had to get my hands on some to try and I bought and ingested a packet of Dramamine (10 tablets = 500mg).

What a radical adventure it was. I was hearing voices, talking out loud to people and then realising they weren't there, having objects appearing and disappearing around me, and near the end I had a flood of childhood memories and it almost felt like I was re-living parts of my childhood... re-exploring them at least.

I was just curious if anyone else had used Dimenhydrinate or heard about its adverse effects, I would love to hear more about it.

I think its the same substance found in "Avils" motion sickness tablets. When I was young and stupid we took overdoses of these because we heard that you can trip. Its definitely not recommeded and is just a dirty poisoning that creates blurs and tremors in your visual field. Nothing like the magical experiences gained from psychedelics. These are still abused by some reckless and down right stupid people, I 100% agree that these should only be used for their purpose not to trip off. I think Avils contain Dramamine as the active ingredient but im not sure. So dont bother and stay away.

^^^^Yeah, avil's are the same shit as far as I know, the trip is evil, but I wouldn't go so far to diss it as you have.
Can be unpleasant, but then I think it was worth trying for experience sake alone.
It has to be said that it's not to be done for recreation, I don't think anyone would really find it 'fun' so to speak, a much better word to describe the trip would be 'interesting' or 'down-right freaky' =D

The trip(if you could call it that) is pretty evil SteveEleckro. With my experience i just dont believe its worth while or their's anything to gain from it. I agree that new experiences can be benifical but Avils in my opinion are pointless. Anyway each to their own.

Not everyone likes the delirium associated with anticholinergic trips induced by such drugs as antihistamines (travel sickness tablets of many types), anticholinergics, antipsychotics, antispasmodics, cyclic antidepressants, and many plants. It's definitely not the same as acid. At very high doses of this kind of drug you can lose touch with the real world quite easily, but, unfortunately sometimes you don't realise you're actually tripping quite that hard.

Doctors sometimes use the mnemonic "red as a beet, dry as a bone, blind as a bat, mad as a hatter, and hot as a hare" to describe the indications of someone who presents with anticholinergic syndrom brought about by overdose on the above. As you might understand, the physical symptoms can be quite overpowering, even though you're tripping so hard you don't realise it. Characteristic fever, flushing and severely dilated pupils for days can result.

Anti-cholinergic toxicity can have serious medical consequences, either directly, or as a result of psychotic behaviour. In addition to the stuff BigTrancer listed:
manifestations include sinus tachycardia, decreased bowel sounds, functional ileus, urinary retention, hypertension, tremulousness, and myoclonic jerking.

Patients with central ACS (anti-cholinergic syndrome) may present with ataxia, disorientation, short-term memory loss, confusion, hallucinations (visual, auditory), psychosis, agitated delirium, seizures (rare), coma, respiratory failure, and cardiovascular collapse

Please do not assume that just because you can buy these types of medicines over the counter they are safe in high doses.
