Misc DPH/DMH cross-tolerance?

Just out of curiousity, would a tolerance to diphenhydramine also produce a tolerance to its salt, dimenhydrinate? I'm not looking to 'trip', I'm asking primarily to determine if I can switch between the two for use as sleep aids to prevent the development of tolerance to one or the other.
 
Yes. Dimenhydrinate is just a salt of diphenhydramine and a drug related to caffeine, essentially it is just diphenhydramine, as far as tripping goes. But in response to your situation, switching to DMH seems like a bad idea as a sleep aid since it's specifically designed to be DPH that keeps you awake.
