Hi,

Have anyone (healthy subjects) tried/used donepezil, rivastigmine or galantamine for studying/cognition/memory improvements? Any thoughts?

How about piracetam?

Thank you!!

I've tried a few nootropics. None of the first 3 you listed however. I did use piracetam as well as its cousins phenylpiracetam and aniracetam. All with and without an external choline source. Phenylpiracetam was the strongest nootropic I've sampled where you knew it was definitely not placebo. It was similar to amphetamines in terms of focus but was without peripheral effects and included some curious effects such as crisper vision & more fluent language flow. Aniracetam was more subtle but had a fantastic anxiolytic effect that was quite useful in drowning out background noise like trying to remember if you shut the oven off before you left the house. Finally piracetam was indistinguishable from placebo, but who knows? It may have been providing subtle gains, but it was hard to tell without a placebo-controlled trial.

I eventually got Rx'd Dexedrine (aka old reliable) which I now use on an as-needed basis until there is more research put into nootropics since unlike amphetamines we don't know the long-term effects of daily use.

Thanks for replying!

The first 3 are reversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitors used in alzheimer's disease treatment. There are only a few studies on its use by healthy subjects. I've tried piracetam once, it was, like you said, undistinguishable from placebo. I guess I'll try phenylpiracetam and aniracetam. Which of the two would you recommend for learning?

Thanks!!
