I've been using kratom the last several days as I come off oxy and then suboxone. Several years of rollercoaster use and abuse -- purely recreational. I do not want to be a kratom addict, but I am waking up throughout the night with the RLS and the aches.

Please advise on how to effectively use the following that I have just procured: Kava-6, American Ginseng, GABA chewables and passion flower. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. I want out of this prison!

Congrats on how far you got. I'm 8 days off subs from a 6to7 year H binge. If you tapered off subs correctly, the first 3 days are the worse but are really manageable. I had RLS and maybe an hour of sleep. Tried Benedryl, but only worked for a couple hours a night.

Than I got some xanax bars, AND just using them for sleep. They work amazing, you'll wake up a new person after a full night sleep. Got a few more days left on the xanax, I'll let you know how it goes.

Stick with it! It's all mental, you'd be surprised how powerful your mind is. :)

I doubt you'll find my relief from OTC meds outside kratom and loperamide OP. Kava, ginseng and GABA don't do much of anything for me when I'm in withdrawal.

The thing about withdrawal is that there really isn't any way to get through it without some level of discomfort. If you are getting any sleep at all you're not doing half bad. Insomnia is what most people struggle the most with (next being RLS, anxiety and nausea/GI issues) when it comes to acute opioid withdrawal.

For the insomnia, consider taking a hot bath or shower before bed and using some Tiger Balm. Make sure to eat three nutritious meals each day. Get as much exercise as you can, but avoid exercising for an hour or two before bed (exercising right before bed can make it hard to fall asleep). Avoid using the computer or TV for an hour before bed or when you get up at night, as the bright screen can fuck with your sleep cycle.

Basically, if you can't get your hands on a more appropriate medication like diazepam or trazadone to help you get some Zzzzs, work on improving your sleep hygiene. Kratom will help a lot more than the supplements you're already taking, so don't expect them to do much. Perhaps get some Valerian root and melatonin to take at bedtime, that helps me (the melatonin at least) at least a bit in withdrawal.

Avoid diphenhydramine and antihistamines as they can increase RLS during the acute withdrawal, but after a week or two you can try them out if you are still having trouble sleeping and can't get more appropriate meds.

As long as you don't take kratom for longer than three or four weeks or so, and decrease your dose a bit before stopping, you shouldn't have an issue coming off it.

Thank you tugger and toothpaste for the support and advice. I may have just blown 120 bucks on all that supplement stuff, but that's about as much as I was spending ADAY on pills at the end. I had a few benzos but went through them all during the most acute WD phase, which I believe has passed.

But as my druggie mind always kicks in, looking for something to take the edge off. Was using alcohol, but just way too much. My vape pen helps I suppose. I'll try these Passion flowers, kava, et al and report back. I hate the RLS.

Try the hot bath or shower and Tiger Balm. That works better than anything for RLS IME, even some prescription medication. And speaking of that, any chance you could get some more appropriate medication to help you deal with some of these lingering symptoms?

How long has it been since you stopped using oxy? And then how many days did you use Suboxone for?

I stopped using about a month ago, went on subs for only about 3 weeks, then like a dumbass hit oxy again for around 4 days. Last pill was 6 days ago.

Gotcha. So you should be out of the woods in terms of the worst of it. The stuff you're experiencing is just some lingering symptoms.

I'd strongly suggest trying hot bath and Tiger Balm idea, and trying to get some exercise during the day (you don't need to hit up the gym and go crazy; going for a bike ride or a long walk or hike is a great start).

If you can, try and get yourself an appointment with a doctor who can help you by prescribing an appropriate medication for RLS or insomnia.

I think I'm out of the woods, physically at least, for the most part. Going to try and quit or taper kratom now. Loaded up on herbal stuff, will try and use these products tomorrow AM instead of a kratom dose.
