So im trying to get off benzo's for the second time. The fist time was a 5 day fast ass tapering method with crazy withdrawl. Left me shaky for a good month, even my skin n mind was all weird, like an opiate detox but an added month n half. At that time i was using about 8 to 10 2mg bars plus the suboxone I was on, and still am on. This habit was like 4 yrs n the making soo it was a rough comedown. I relapsed about 2 months later. Now iv ben on the benzo's for about a year, just heavy for the last few months along with and 8mg suboxone a day. I recently went to my clinic and told them i had enough i need help, so i asked for some gabapentin, witch he gave me a month supply of it to help with the withdrawls. so he gave me a month supply and some valium, to come down with. I also have serequal in my arsenal. I am going to try a taperin method, but not as fast as what i went threw at detox, so hopefully this goes better and if anyone has any good advice on coming off these bezo's im all ears. Iv beat a 4 yr dope habit sooo far and hope to continue keeping that in check. Anything else that would
u think might help my brain get back to normal quicker let me knoe like vitams or something.
alrite thanks for reading, ill try to post how im doing with it.

Want to get off whatever it is you're taking? Stop taking it. You talk about how you have this and that in your "arsenal", but you don't mention any strategies for getting off or why it's important that you get off this drug, as opposed to the host of other ones which you don't seem to have a problem with.

^it's not safe to just stop taking benzos and definitely not as easy as just wanting to stop taking them.

After a year of daily use you will have to do a long taper. If you want it to be comfortable (as possible) you should drag it out for at least a few months. There's not much you can do to avoid some of the withdrawal symptoms but diphenydramine/doxylamine, chlonidine, propranolol, valerian root, hops are some things that help. Along with a slow valium taper those meds may make it tolerable at least. Gabapentin also helps, I would do a search for using it during benzo withdrawal.

As said above its not safe or smart to get off benzo cold turkey. That's why i posted this, seeing if anyone had any ideas about goin threw it @ home and not under Doc supervision. so with that said thank you for some of the tips ROBO. i duno why Snarky is being snarky but MY "strategies" is to tapper myself off the drug im on, not to continue the ones that I am using to help me work threw the day and keep my job and life stright. so look at my big picture, it is to get off my drug that im currently abusing. ok thanks guys

I would strongly advise against using Seroquel for withdrawal. Anti-psychotics (even things like Phenergan) can produce really intense akathisia and RLS. This happened to me when I used Seroquel for bupe withdrawal.

I agree with you on that tho the longest i have ever takin seroquel was fro a week and I had symptoms of RLS and for the "akathisia" i didnt know what it was until I looked it up and its pretty spot on, just really like rough inside and a feeling of frustration for me atleast. I have Rozerem for some sleep if need be. thanks for the tip. so its day one and i took 2 300mg Nerotin and some valium (witch i had spread out thew the day, every 8hrs) so far so good.

glad to see your first day is going okay. hope it keeps up. keep us updated on your progress (weekly perhaps). Benzo withdrawal seems to go through stages. Good luck!

Yeah good luck with this. I tapered off of benzos a few times and really wasn't able to kick the habit when I went into recovery for my drug addiction as a whole. I just wanted to add to the idea of "stages" by saying that I, one half a dozen occasions, thought I got through the worst part only to find out that I was still at risk for seizure (fluttering feeling in my stomach) and that anxiety would come in waves. I too kicked a heroin habit and while there are people on both sides of this debate I think that benzos are easier if not more dangerous than opiates to come off of. For me at least. Hope its smooth sailing for you though.

vary rough tapper(my own fault) I'm just not fully dedicated to it. I get to a low dose then ofcourse get money n splurg it and try to get high off em (which dosent work) just shoots ur tollerance back up ugh. Its a tough tapper if ur minds not in the right place soo ya im goin up and down with it just for an update, thanks.
