and does it depends on what drug-

ie some powders/chemicals or cannabis?

i want to know for weed mainly as thats the only one id vape as the main roa but have done so with other chems in the past.

Vaporizing is definitely a lot healthier than smoking. There have been some studies on vaping weed by heating it to a temperature short of the point of combustion, which found it eliminated or substantially reduced toxins and particles normally present in smoke. As for whether or not it can still damage your cilia I'm not sure. Also it might depend on the particular vaping technique/equipment - I know some people think they are vaping something when they are actually burning it.

^Yeah, good call, I'd just left it in BDD because the OP was asking about drugs in general and not solely cannabis. But since weed was the primary one, CD is probably the best place and will have the most people who are knowledgeable about the subject, and I'm sure if s/he wants to discuss vaporizing other drugs it would be ok to start a new thread in BDD or OD :)

Inhaling plant matter in general is not good for the lungs. I cannot speak to damaging the cilia, but I believe that would be a result from having smoke in your lungs period. There are carcinogens in weed just as there are in tobacco. There may be some worse ones in tobacco, but that doesnt mean marijuana smoking wont harm or damage the functionality of the lungs.
Vaporizing definitely helps eliminate majority of the carcinogens but I still think it could have minor adverse effects as far as mucus production.
When you smoke, mucus coats the alveolar cells in your lungs (where gas exchange occurs). This happens from marijuana + tobacco smoke. this means that your lungs need to work harder to achieve the proper levels of O2 exchange, which puts a strain on the diaphragm muscle and forces you to use accessory muscles for breathing.

I personally prefer vaporization knowing the kind of damage that occurs in the lungs and vaporization minimizes these effects.
