Does Tolerance have a limit in your experience? Is there a certain point where it won't get any higher?

Have never experienced the end as they say where you cant get high anymore. Like the people that start off with heroin & do it endlessly for years until they cant get high anymore, that can definitely happen.

Myself, I started with darvocet for back pain & now am prescribed vicodin & tramadol...........I would like morphine but its way too strong & I know my doctor would never prescribe it. I for one do not want to get to the level where no matter what opiate I take, I cant get high, that would suck, so I try not to abuse opiates but once in a while its nice to take something extra to enjoy the night.

Im assuming hardcore opiate addicts probably suffer from what the OP is asking............

Let me put it another way.......if I had an endless supply of Morphine pills 100mg tabs & norcos & throw methadone in there, I would be a hardcore opiate addict but since I cant get all this stuff & I hate oxycodone (I know im one of the few)

For opiates at least there seems to be no upper limit. If you build up dose over a long enough period seems you can go on forever. There'll be a practical limit at some point, there only being so much brain to play with, but as far as daily doses that are affordable and easily put into the body goes there's no end.

I never got anywhere close to an upper limit, IVing a coupla grams or so of base H a day when I could afford it. My sister's habit was even worse than mine, and she could quite easily cook a gram up into a single shot, barely getting a nod out of it, and do it several times a day. Even allowing for cuts that's a shitload of diamorphine; enough to kill dozens of people not tolerant to opiates anyways.

With weed I tend to think I have hit the ceiling tolerance limit. When I first started smoking daily, i slowly had to take more and more and more to get the same high, but for the past few months its just the same every night for me. 4 big bong rips and im good. No more no less.

With amphetamine pills, and snorting coke, I have yet to come to that point. When I notice I'm taking 180mg for a day at work i stop using amp for a week or so, let me go back down to 60-100mg/day, but thats because I can't afford it. As for coke, I generally do 600mg-700mg (a bag is supposed to weigh 0.6g but my dealer is a good buddy so he throws on a rock thats usually between 600-700mg and just says fuck it and gives it to me) once a week, so tolerance isnt an issue. When I was doing it everyday though, it just went up up up up up. Every night bigger and bigger lines. It didn't seem to ceiling in my experiences.

Excellent post. There really is no ceiling for how high an opiate tolerance can be, they can become pretty monstrous.

I've found therapeutic doses of stimulants to have a tolerance limit, as even daily doses over years seem to cap off at under 60 mg/day. I think the same applies for most drugs, if you chase the strongest euphoria tolerance will build faster, but even for opiates/benzos I've heard of people leveling off, though they still experience less euphoria, the pain killing and anxiety-reducing effects are still present.
