Does suboxone help with repairing receptors and leveling of dopamine?

I apologize if this has been answered, but I couldn't find my specific question by searching...

I know it takes time to rebuild the opiate receptors in the brain and restore the proper dopamine levels. Most doctors tell me it takes between 6 months and two years before I will feel content.

If I stabilize myself on 2mg of Suboxone a day for 6 months, and then do a VERY slow taper over a period of 18 months, will this give my brain adequate time to rebuild itself, without going through extreme discomfort?

If I make the taper slow and gradual enough will I feel "normal" after I've tapered off? I've been abusing heroin and methadone heavily for the last 6 years.

Any other ideas on how to restore myself?

Also, a couple years back I went to a detox where they gave me large doses of Subutex for 6 days and then just through me to the streets. Does anyone else find this totally pointless? Is it actually possible to detox off heroin with only 6 days of bup treatment?

Thanks for your thoughts...
