Does PROOF/scientific research available for cocaethlene? I need to prove it exists

I've been arguing with a complete idiot of a doctor recently about cocaethylene.

I was in a phase of drinking and snorting constantly for about 6 months ages ago. He was basically asking me why I took certain drugs (including codeine as well), and he actually started shouting at me because I said booze and coke create another substance called ccocaethylene - BANG! He was like a drill seargant shouting at squaddies.

I've no doubt about how the two substances taken together make me feel so in that respect I don't care, but I want to take this cunt down a notch and flash a piece of proof in paper form in front of his face.

I got nothing on Google, Wikipedia says it but has no reference to back it up but I'm adamant that someone here can help me prove him wrong.

So, anyone up to the challenge?

I know of its existence, but I would advise against pursuing this.

While the story for me is entirely different, I believe my original Suboxone doctor began denying me medication (Adderall) because I knew a little bit more than he did about drugs. Doctors who have spent 10 years of their lives on their education don't like to be punked by 18-25 year old kids (apologies if you are older, I mean no disrespect).

Once these assholes get their degrees, they stop reading any new research that isn't directly provided by their true employers, the pharmaceutical companies. Therefore, they fall behind 16 year old kids in their knowledge of drugs. When I created this screen name, I was on the path to a degree in biochemistry. Now I can hardly remember a fucking thing about it, due to lack of practice. This asshole hasn't practiced in years, and if I lost all of my knowledge in three years imagine what this guy could have lost in 10-20.

Damaging this guys ego will only damage your ability to get what you want/need from the guy. Psychiatrists are truly assholes. If you want therapy, go see a psychologist. You need to keep a leg up and play dumb for psychiatrists, I have found out the hard way that they are not too fond of knowledgeable patients.

You're not getting hits because you're spelling it wrong, I'm guessing. Google brings up heaps.

Thanks, the first one I'm not too sure he'd take seriously as it just has a name and is more to do with mice. The second one looks great, however it talks about it as a given - is there not something that goes through the facts of how it's created? It also looks a bit too scientific for me to actually make sense of so I also can't be cocky about it.

He especially made a point about people on the internet researching for themselves being bad so I have to hammer him right first time around.

I'm also not to sure how to print this page for it to come out properly. :s So, thank you and is there anything proving the actual process of it being created?

EDIT: I found one from alcohol.net, so no problem. Thanks again. :)

@3 ,4: Thanks, you are completely right and I already believe that but I get my sub from a completely different doctor through the Independence Trust, I was referred to him by my GP.

I'm even in the process of getting a new psychiatrist anyway. I just want to put him in his place.

There are over 300 abstracts on PubMed which refer to cocaethylene. Much of the research you'll find treats its existence as a given because its existence is a given.

You could get this thread moved to Advanced Drug Discussion if you really want information on how the combination of alcohol and cocaine creates cocaethylene, but you're going to get answers which may be "too scientific".

It's also worth remembering that just because a synergy exists doesn't mean that it's beneficial.

True, I always find myself nervous without booze and it lasts less. Making my money go further. I wouldn't mid it being moved actually.

Cheers. :)
