Does MJ smoke cause lung cancer or emphisema?

Well, the titile pretty much tell you the question...Have researchers did anything to test if MJ smoke causes those two conditions? Or, does it depend what bong or pipe one smokes it from??

Because some pipes do not filter the tar and resins out really good and some do...

And which pipes does one recommend to filter the tar?

Burning any plant matter produces several potentially carcinogenic compounds. Also, marijuana contains a lot of tars per volume (the resins that make it sticky), so you're slowly building up tar, which could in theory produce emphysema. THC itself has never been found to cause any damage to the human brain or body. Temporary short-term memory issues, yes, but those are not in any way permanent.

The answer? Get a good vaporizer. Then that problem is literally completely eliminated, as you get the cannabinoids only in a fine cloud of mist, and none of the poisonous by-products of the combustion reaction. If you get a good one that is, which controls the temperature enough to not burn any. Plus, the vaporizer high is cleaner and more psychedelic.

I live in the LA area...certain days in summer it'd be more healthy for my lungs to smoke 10 jays indoors than to go outside and jog.

yeah man nothing to worry about. as long as you stay with the greens and dont smoke cigs your lungs will be fine. vaporizers are good at eliminating tar, ive also heard smoking through water cools down the smoke and removes some tar making it better for your lungs. hands down the best thing you can do is take a break every once in a while and go for a jog or some sort of aerobic activity to help clean out your system.

there hasn't been any studies which show that cannabis definitely gives you cancer. but there haven't been any that says it definitely does not.

it has been "linked" to cancer the the test methods are always dubious. thc has also be shown to reduce tumors so at this point there really isn't enough research

that being said, smoking anything just cannot be a good thing.. just living in dusty environments gives people asthma and all sorts of nasty shit so i can't imagine pot being much better

vaporizers are nice and all but they don't offer the same high as smoking a bowl

There are hardly any papers on the effects of marijuana on the lungs... the best/most recent paper available, is thankfully available free:

But cancer and physical injury are different things. It is likely that cannabis smoke is equally proficient at inducing emphasema and COPD in my opinion[1]

What? No. THC is a cannabinoid. The trichomes contain useless substances, some of which are undoubtedly tars.

It'll give you cancer the same ways a cigarette would, but after a lot of reading I've come to a conclusion that the cannabinoids bind to your lungs and actually protect it a little bit, so therefor you might still get cancer, just at a later date.
